Plano Children's Theatre (1301 Custer Road) wraps up Cinderella and opens Aladdin this weekend. Final performances for Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella directed by Jeff Swearingen are Friday at 7:15pm; Saturday at 2:15 and 7:15pm; and Sunday at 2:15pm. Aladdin by Jeff Swearingen opens Friday, May 21 at 6 PM and runs through Saturday, May 29. Tickets for both shows are $7 in advance ($9 at the door) and available by phone 972-422-2575 and online at http://www.planochildrenstheatre.org

The Column Awards, a 501(c)3 nonprofit honoring excellence in theater in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, presented its 11th annual awards last night in Carpenter Hall at the Irving Arts Center. Uptown Players and Plaza Theatre Company tied for most wins with 10 each. In all, 17 theaters companies shared 62 awards, divided between Equity and non-Equity productions.

William Shakespeare's masterpiece Hamlet appears on one stage at the same time as a related play, Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead runs on the other stage according to Tim Shane, Artistic Director. Performed by one cast for two different audiences, the plays run on Friday and Saturday evenings from January 23 through February 7, beginning at 8:15 pm. A Sunday matinee on January 25 begins at 2:30 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $30 for the shows, or you can buy a package deal for $45 that has VIP admission to each show. Both stages are at Dallas Hub Theater, 2809 Canton Street, Dallas, TX 75226.
