Newsies, the Tony Award-winning "Critics' Pick" about to enter its third year on Broadway, welcomes Liana Hunt to the role of the show's leading lady Katherine Plumber, beginning Monday, February 3rd. Kara Lindsay, who created the role, will play her final performance this Sunday, February 2nd.

Ars Nova kicks off 2014 with Game Play, this year's incarnation of Ars Nova's annual Play Group production. An evening of original short plays and live music inspired by classic board game titles, Game Play features Peter Benson, Marcia DeBonis, Dashiell Eaves, Brandon Gill, Ben Graney, Susan Heyward, Jessica Love and Carmen Zilles. This production plays 10 performances, today, January 29 - February 8.

The Ford's Theatre 2013-2014 season continues with the musical Violet, directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun (Broadway's Newsies), now through February 23, 2014. Violet features a dynamic score of bluegrass, gospel, country and rock music by four-time Tony Award-nominated composerJeanine Tesori (the recent Fun Home; Broadway's Caroline, or Change;Thoroughly Modern Millie; Shrek the Musical). NEWSIES to Hold Auditions for Broadway, North American Tour in Las Vegas, 1/31

Disney Theatrical Productions will hold an open call audition for male dancers for both the Broadway and upcoming North American touring productions of Newsies, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical smash, in Las Vegas on Friday, January 31 at 4pm at the Alexis Park Resort Hotel (375 East Harmon Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89169). This audition will be first come, first serve and is for technically-trained Equity and non-Equity male dancers between 16 - 22 years old of all ethnicities who can tap and sing well.

Gloria Steinem, acclaimed feminist author and activist, took her family to see the Tony Award®-winning smash-hit musical Newsies at the Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St.) on Friday night. Following the performance, Ms. Steinem went backstage and enthusiastically greeted actress Kara Lindsay, who plays trailblazing journalist Katherine Plumber, exclaiming, 'a fellow organizer!' The two chatted at length about the 1899 newsboy strike on which the musical is based and the real-life journalist, Nellie Bly, who inspired Lindsay's character.
