The beloved holiday film is being brought to life live-on-stage as the award-winning Broadway show, A Christmas Story, The Musical, embarks on an eight-city National Tour this holiday season opening in Utica, NY on November 15, 2016, with engagements in Waterbury, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Baltimore, Buffalo, Detroit and Grand Rapids.

Citadel Theatre, through a gift to the USO of Illinois, has set aside the entire theatre for the benefit of the men and women stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and at USO of Illinois facilities throughout Illinois. On November 17, 2016 Citadel has invited 130 guests from the USO of Illinois to attend a special and exclusive advance performance of A Christmas Story: The Musical, with the show set to start at 7:30pm. Military guests, and their families, will be greeted by Santa and whirled away into the theatre to join Ralphie in his epic quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas presents - a Red Ryder BB Gun.

Citadel Theatre is presenting A Christmas Story: The Musical as the second installment of its 14th Season. Directed by Robert D Estrin this musical is based on the story by Jean Shepherd with book byJoseph Robinette, and words and music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The show runs November 18 - December 18, 2016 at Citadel's West Campus Theatre at 300 S Waukegan Road, Lake Forest. The Press Opening is Opening Night, Friday November 18, at 8pm.

The Chicago Premiere of playwright Matty Selman's "Uncle Philip's Coat" will run at the Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N. Lincoln Ave) Nov. 27 - Dec. 31. Directed by Elizabeth Margoliusand starring Gene Weygandt (best known as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in "Wicked" in Chicago and on Broadway), "Uncle Philip's Coat" follows Matty on his humorous and heartfelt journey of personal discovery, sparked by his inheritance of a tattered coat from his eccentric Russian-Jewish immigrant uncle Philip.

Full Cast Set for Solo Celebration at Greenhouse

Casting is now complete for the Greenhouse Theater's Solo Celebration!, as Artistic Director Jacob Harvey announced the remaining performers to be featured in solo works being presented now through February 2017. The A-list group of Chicago performers joining the Solo Celebration include: Linda Reiter as Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy in "Rose," directed by Steve Scott and running August 19 - September 25; Gene Weygandt as Matty in "Uncle Phillip's Coat," directed by Elizabeth Margolius and running November 27 - December 31; and Will Allan as Chester in "Circumference of a Squirrel," directed by Jacob Harvey and running January 13 - February 12, 2017.
