Casting Announced for Electrifying New MARY STUART at Chicago Shakespeare

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announces the cast and creative team for Mary Stuart, Peter Oswald's electrifying new take on the famously bitter rivalry between Mary, Queen of Scots, and her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England. The two fiercely independent women at the center of the showdown are portrayed by acclaimed actresses K.K. Moggie as Mary and Kellie Overbey as Elizabeth. Award-winning director Jenn Thompson, former artistic director of The Actors Company Theater (named Company of the Year by The Wall Street Journal), stages the production in CST's Courtyard Theater, February 21 April 15, 2018.

Artist Lineup Set for JIMMY HEATH AT 90 at The Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center announced today the roster of artists who will be participating in Jimmy Heath at 90, a concert honoring the 90th birthday of the legendary saxophonist, composer, educator, and bandleader. The celebration will take place on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in the Concert Hall.

Tony Bennett to Headline 4th Annual TD James Moody Jazz Festival at NJPAC, 11/7-15

New Jersey Performing Arts Center is proud to announce the TD James Moody Jazz Festival, headlined by the legendary Tony Bennett, from November 7-15, 2015. With help from NJPAC Jazz Advisor Christian McBride, this festival promises to be one of the largest gatherings for jazz fans on the East Coast, showcasing all-star line-ups with some of the country's best musicians, such as Dianne Reeves, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings and the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition. Now in its fourth year, the festival offers nine days of concerts, panel discussions and workshops around Newark, in honor of saxophonist, bebop pioneer, and Newark native James Moody.

LaChanze to Lead 'BUBBLY BLACK GIRL' Reunion Concert at 54 Below Next Month

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) will present a reunion concert of Kirsten Childs' THE BUBBLY BLACK GIRL SHEDS HER CHAMELEON SKIN on March 30, 2015 at 7pm at 54 Below. The concert will be directed by original cast member Jerry Dixon (If/Then) with original music director Fred Carl (Miracle Brothers) leading members of the original band.

DiverseWorks and Nameless Sound Present ANTHOLOGY, MEDITATIONS, 2/15

In conjunction with the exhibition SonicWorks, on view at DiverseWorks through March 1, 2014, Nameless Sound and DiverseWorks present a marathon of back-to-back performances of scores by Pauline Oliveros, an acclaimed composer, performer, humanitarian, and important pioneer in American experimental music. For more than four decades Oliveros, a Houstonnative, has explored sound, forging new ground for herself and others. Anthology, Meditations celebrates Oliveros' important role in the founding and mentoring of Nameless Sound, as well as her connections to DiverseWorks' history as an important presenter and champion of sonic art in Houston.
