Last month, twenty of the brightest talents on Broadway were featured in Broadway Sings Bruno Mars, the latest concert in the Broadway Sings series. The tribute series takes the music of well-known music icons and creates new, unique arrangements and orchestrations by twisting the style to fit the strength of the performer. Previous concerts have included Adele, Stevie Wonder, and Justin Timberlake; this November, producer Corey Mach (Godspell, Wicked) and music director Joshua Stephen Kartes will present Broadway Sings Sara Bareilles.?
Audrey Heffernan Meyer to Star in ROMANCE LANGUAGE at Theater 511 at Ars Nova This Fall

The new play ROMANCE LANGAUGE will receive its New York City premiere this fall at Theater 511 at Ars Nova (511 W 54th St, New York). Written by Joe Godfrey (A Queer Carol) and directed by Carl Andress (Charles Busch's The Tribute Artist and The Divine Sister), ROMANCE LANGUAGE will star Jessie Austrian (Fiasco Theater's Into the Woods), Audrey Heffernan Meyer ("Royal Pains"), and Jared Zirilli (Pretty Filthy). ROMANCE LANGUAGE begins previews on October 13, 2015, and will officially open Thursday, October 22, 2015, playing a strictly limited engagement through November 8, 2015. Last December, Texas treasure Holland Vavra made her 54 Below debut in Cuz We're F#cking Talented, a concert where a handful of artists showed off their skills. Last night, she made a special trip from Houston to premiere her tribute to Frank Sinatra, Holland at the Sands: My Blue Eyed Sinatra. With her own brand of lovable, quirky humor and her golden instrument, Vavra made her solo cabaret debut a delightful spectacle.

This July, 54 Below celebrates The Frank Sinatra Birthday Centennial with three special musical events featuring some of the brightest stars from Broadway and cabaret including Tony Award nominees Tom Wopat and Bob Stillman, Bistro and MAC Award winner Jeff Harnar, Broadway's Sal Viviano, acclaimed jazz vocalist Erin McDougald and her quintet, and Holland Vavra with Anneliese van der Pol (Beauty and the Beast, Disney Channel's 'That's So Raven'), Tyce Green, Katie Rosen and Jared Zirilli in a recreation of Sinatra's legendary 1966 performance at the Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

BROADWAY SINGS BRUNO MARS Changes Venue Due to Owners' Affiliation with Anti-Gay Presidential Candidate

In a slew of recent event cancellations, the next installment of the BROADWAY SINGS concert series is relocating due to a recent reception hosted by the venue's owners for Republican Presidential candidate and vocal anti-gay politician Ted Cruz. Last week, it was revealed that Ian Reisner and Mati Weiderpass, owners of The OUT Hotel, had hosted Senator Cruz at their Manhattan penthouse for a "dinner and 'fireside chat,'" as reported by the New York Times. Broadway Sings Bruno Mars, originally scheduled to take place at 8:30 PM on May 17th at 42West in The OUT Hotel, will now take place at The Cutting Room, at the same time and date.
