Solo-performance group Sweat Girls have announced their latest stand-alone production, The Sweat Girls are ...21 and Finally Legal!, playing at the Heartland Studio, 7016 N. Glenwood Ave., September 26 - October 12. Celebrating their 21st solo-performance anniversary, the Sweat Girls consist of writer-performers Caroline Andres, Cindy Hanson, Dorothy Milne, Clare Nolan, Martie Sanders and Pamela Webster. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be reserved by calling 630.414.3939 or e-mailing tickets@sweatgirls.org. Opening Night of the 18th Annual Philadelphia Fringe Festival (Sept 5, 2014), will launch three weeks of free late-night comedy, theater and music at FringeArts' permanent home at 140 N. The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, celebrating their 125th Anniversary Season, has been chosen as one of five honorees for the City of Chicago and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) inaugural Fifth Star Awards, celebrating the city's creativity through artists, arts advocates and cultural institutions. The free public celebration, also honoring dancer Lou Conte, artist Richard Hunt, Grammy-winning composer, pianist and radio personality Ramsey Lewis and arts advocate Lois Weisberg, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 pm at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park (201 E. Randolph St.) and will feature live performances and tributes throughout the evening.

Karen Irwin tore up the stage at The Cabaret at The Columbia Club July 25 and 26. The Indianapolis native is well known for her bluesy rasp vocals and excellent coverage of Janis Joplin tunes. So popular is Irwin, the entire weekend was sold out for both performances, matching her prior visit to this stage.

Celebrated singer and comedian Amber Martin embarks on a bi-monthly year-long performance residency at Joe's Pub at The Public with her newest show The Days of My Lives on Tuesday, August 12 at 9:30PM (doors 9:00PM). Over the course of her year at the Pub, she will showcase new material and characters, recounting her 30 year journey from the bayou in Southeast Texas to the Downtown bustle of New York.
