Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook, which explores the best of the golden age of musical standards through to the best in current songwriting, will bring to the stage some of today's most gifted interpreters of song. Week Three is a Grammy Awards fest, as three of the four acts are current and past nominees. On February 2nd one can experience life in the Piedmont hills of the Carolinas via the vibrant sound of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. This three-piece string band plays old-time roots music with virtuoso playing of the banjo, fiddle, guitar, harmonica, jug and more. Next up is the crown princess of bossa nova, Bebel Gilberto. Gilberto has taken classic bossa nova rhythms and mixed them with modern pop - for a sound that is up for a Grammy this year. On February 4th perennial Grammy nominee Joan Osborne will perform an emotionally-charged work she has written with Jack Petruzzelli: Love and Hate - A Song Cycle. On February 5th, actress/singer Anika Noni Rose, a Tony winner for Caroline, Or Change, will make her eagerly-anticipated solo concert debut.

Klea Blackhurst returned to Birdland, her musical home, on Monday, January 10, with a fresh show of stories and songs from the American Songbook and Broadway. Jim Caruso's Cast Party, the wild open mic night that celebrates the Broadway, pop and jazz communities, followed the concert.

Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook, which explores the best of the golden age of musical standards through to today's most dynamic songwriting, will bring to the stage some of today's most gifted interpreters of song. Week Two starts on January 26th with a tribute to arguably the greatest songwriting team in American Songbook history: the brothers George and Ira Gershwin. Conductor, arranger and pianist (as well as Artistic Director of the Gershwin centenary) Rob Fisher will lead Victoria Clark (Tony winner for Light in the Piazza) and Norm Lewis (Les Miserables, The Little Mermaid) in a night of gorgeous Gershwin. On January 27th singer/songwriter Shara Worden (from the group My Brightest Diamond) performs her unique blend of vocal music that has her pegged as a star to watch. Usdan Center For the Creative and Performing Arts, one of America's largest not-for-profit summer arts camps, whose alumni include Natalie Portman, Seth Rudetsky, Mariah Carey, Jordan Leeds, Lisa Gay Hamilton, jazz singer Jane Monheit and other performers, and which was named a "Best Of Classes and Camps for 2010" by TimeOutNY/Kids, is now preparing an array of new programs and calendar options for the summer of 2011, Usdan's 44th season.

Providing its region with a cultural attraction of world-class quality and scale, the multi-venue Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana - just outside of the state capital of Indianapolis - will open the first of its facilities on January 29, 2011, when it inaugurates its concert hall The Palladium. The Center's other venues, now under construction, will be a 200-seat studio theater (opening in March 2011) and The Tarkington, a 500-seat proscenium theater (August 2011).

She began this summer performing in the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and has just completed her first tour of Australia with MY MUSICAL COMEDY LIFE, before taking it to NY and a sold out crowd at the Laurie Beechman Theater.

Chris Isaacson in association with UPRIGHT CABARET announced the world premiere of Jennifer Leigh Warren starring in 'LITTLE WOMAN/BIG VOICE: The Songs of Dame Shirley Bassey,' which will make its Los Angeles debut in Spring 2011. International Jazz diva Jane Monheit will present a sneak-preview performance of music from her new CD 'Home,' a passionate ode to the golden age of the jazz standard, at her shows on Thursday, September 16th at 7:30PM and 9:30PM.
