The LCT SPOTLIGHT SERIES, Lincoln Center Theater’s free program of digital events, will continue on Thursday, April 29 with an audio performance of Bill Gunn’s 1989 play, THE FORBIDDEN CITY.  Directed by Seret Scott, THE FORBIDDEN CITY’s cast of 11 will feature James T. Seattle Rep is proud to present the acclaimed Broadway production of August Wilson's Jitney, beginning February 28 in the Bagley Wright Theater. Directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Jitney was the last of Wilson's plays to premiere on Broadway, where it won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.

New York Theatre Workshop, in association with producer Brian Moreland, will present a private reading of Thoughts of a Colored Man, a new play written by Keenan Scott II, directed by Taye Diggs (Rent, Chicago, TV's 'All American'), and choreographed by Jenny Parsinen (Allegiance), on Friday, November 30 at 3 PM at NYTW's Fourth Street Theatre.

Vitale Artistic Director, and Executive Director Angel Ysaguirre, announces the extension of August Wilson's Radio Golf, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. Radio Golf now runs through October 6, 2018, at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave.

Notwithstanding the lingering leeriness I feel about going to see them, one-person shows can be memorable and truly special. Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, Frank Gorshin's Say Goodnight, Gracie and Colin Quinn's Long Story Short stand out as the best that I've seen by men, while I'd point to Julie Harris's Belle of Amherst, Lily Tomlin's The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe, and Tova Feldshuh's Golda's Balcony as the best by women - plus two more at Spoleto this year, Avital Lvova's Angel and Ayodele Casel's While I Have the Floor.

Due to a high demand for tickets, Penumbra Theatre will be extending its run of Jitney through Sunday, November 13, 2016. Directed by Lou Bellamy and featuring an all-star cast of company members and Wilson veterans, Penumbra Theatre's production of Jitney has been met with critical acclaim from both press and audiences alike.

Milwaukee Rep closes a successful season in sublime style staging a production of August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winning play Fences on the Quadracci Powerhouse stage. Lou Bellamy, who worked extensively with the acclaimed African-American playwright at St. Paul, Minnesota's Penumbra Theatre Company, directed the spellbinding Rep performance. On a stunning, realistic set courtesy of Vicki Smith, the Pittsburgh brownstone with a comfortable wood porch, “lays in the lap of the audience on the thrust stage” according to the Rep In Depth, and places Wilson's flawed characters directly near the seats of the theatergoers, Seats where Wilson's portrait of humanity, seen through the African American experience, exposes compassion and struggle.

The production, which is a co-production with Arizona Theatre Company and Indiana Repertory Theatre, is helmed by legendary American theater director Lou Bellamy and features an all-star cast. The Piney Woods School, one of only four African-American college-preparatory boarding schools in the U.S.A., is hosting what organizers expect to become an annual 'Give From Your Heart' fundraising concert for the 106-year old school located outside of Jackson, MS.
