Tickets for Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, LES MISERABLES, will go on sale on Wednesday, August 3 at 10A for its engagement at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) November 15 – 20, 2022.

The Muny and its casting partners The Telsey Office have assembled a killer cast who deliver Soundheim’s score with razor-sharp vocals. Ben Davis’ (Sweeney Todd) characterization and descent into madness may be the finest acting performance ever to darken The Muny Stage. The only thing more delicious than Mrs. Lovett’s pies is the wicked verbal waltz he and Carmen Cusack (Mrs. Lovett) deliver with ‘A Little Priest’ to end Act 1.  Cusack’s Lovett is baked with exceptional charm and wit as she delivers the blackest of comedy. Riley Noland’s (Johanna) operatic soprano and Jake Boyd’s (Anthony Hope) silky tenor pair pleasingly. The ensemble’s robust presence, serving as a Greek chorus to drive the narrative, is felt every time they take the stage. The chorus’ dark and brooding presence opens the production with ‘The Ballad of Sweeney Todd’ and drags you into this grim tale of murderous madness.

The Muny announced today its full cast, design and production teams for Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, July 16 – 22, 2022. 

Connecting Chicago audiences with the widest possible range of today’s new music , the CSO MusicNOW series continues on March 14 with a “Night of Song” at the Harris Theater. Curated by CSO Mead Composer-in-Residence Jessie Montgomery, the program offers a celebration of art song today, with the world premiere of a new CSO MusicNOW commission from Damien Geter, a 2018 song cycle by Dale Trumbore and world premiere arrangements of works by Ayanna Woods and Shawn Okpebholo.

Premiering on Sunday, November 14th at 4pm is Music as the Message: FALL IN ❤️ WITH LOVE!, the season opener of a new, imaginative hybrid performance including both virtual and in-person experiences created and hosted by Emmy Award-winning soprano Adrienne Danrich, and presented by The American Opera Project and Opera on Tap, in partnership with Broadway Presbyterian Church.

On this day in 2017, Cameron Macintosh's acclaimed revival of the musical Miss Saigon landed on Broadway starring Tony-nominee Eva Noblezada. 

Sunday, February 14th at 4pm EST, The American Opera Project will offer the second episode of Music as the Message: SING ME TO THE END OF LOVE. Host Adrienne Danrich and a stellar cast will toast love in all its forms in an afternoon of poetry, dance, and songs that blend music from Classical, Jazz, R&B, Pop, and EDM.

The tour of MISS SAIGON is a heartbreaking, epic, sensational production of a problematic show. Restaging MISS SAIGON in 2020 feels more unsteady than it might have 30 years ago. All in all, MISS SAIGON brings devastating, gritty realism to some problematic events. While the show's writing may feel dated at times, the production values and performances are first class, and I'm grateful to OKC Broadway for bringing in these tours of the highest caliber.
