Glasgow's Citizens Theatre has received a confirmed grant of 4.8 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for its transformational redevelopment project, it was announced today (Monday 18 December).

James Bridie's Mr Gillie comes to the London stage after more than 60 years. Helmed by Jenny Eastop, this production is a successful portrait of love and passion for art and education.

In a new production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre and continuing their rediscovery of James Bridie, one of the West End's most successful dramatists of the 1930s and 1940s, the first London production since its 1950 premiere of Mr Gillie runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 25 June 2017 (Press Night: Monday, 26 June 2017 at 7.30pm).

Finborough Theatre has just announced its Spring-Summer Season. The new season features six premieres and another Finborough rediscovery from Scottish dramatist James Bridie, with the first London production since 1950 of Mr Gillie.

Gary Naylor sees a diverting, if not wholly convincing, revival of a dark comedy-thriller set in a 1920 GP practice in Glasgow.

The Finborough's Winter Season concentrates on unique rediscoveries with works from the 1930s, 1940s, 1970s and 1980s including the long overdue rediscovery of playwright James Bridie, one of the West End's most popular dramatists of the 1930s and 1940s. New writing is represented by the eighth consecutive year of Vibrant 2016 - A Festival of Finborough Playwrights featuring our usual eclectic selection of staged readings by UK and international playwrights, developed, nurtured or championed by the Finborough Theatre. This year's festival also includes new filmmaking from the Earl's Court Film Festival, and the European premiere of the After Orlando International Theatre Action, a collection of 70 short plays in response to the massacre at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida, in June 2016.

The cast is announced and rehearsals begin today for RIGHT NOW, a co-production between the Bush Theatre, Traverse theatre Company and Theatre Royal Bath Ustinov Studio.

The production will be the onstage premiere of the musical adapation, based on the hit film about the Beatles. The cast will include Isabella Calthorpe and Andy Knott. Also Jamie Blackley, Oliver Bennett, Daniel Healy, Kate Hodgson, Patrick Lannigan, Alex Robertson and Charles Swift. The production will run from February 9th through March 6th.
