Protégés Gwen Verdon, Chita Rivera, Carol Haney and Bob Fosse have passed down his legacy, and his influence can still be seen. The popularity of these panels exposes a need within the theatrical/dance community to preserve the History, Legacy and Lives of dancers throughout the Golden Years of Theatre and Dance.
DANCERS OVER 40 Celebrates a Wonderful Year, with an extra special Spring Fling on Sunday, May 18th, from 7:00 -10:00 pm at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Studios, 405 West 55th Street (at 9th Avenue). There will be wine, food and music, and some of the DO40 members will perform numbers from some of the past panels -- the 'Women of Fosse' (The Manson Trio from 'Pippin'), the 'Men of Fosse' (George Marcy performing from 'Damn Yankees') and the 'Dancers and Creative Talents of Gower Champion' (Richard Skipper) as Carol Channing!performing from 'Hello, Dolly!'.
On March 31, the dancers and the creative talents associated with Director/Choreographer Gower Champion will be represented on the stage of the St. Luke's Theater at 308 West 46th Street at 7:30PM - represented from 1951's Make a Wish to his last Broadway show and the smash 42nd Street in 1980.
He's got steam heat...and a burgeoning career as a choreographer.
