Lookingglass Theatre Company announces its complete 2019-2020 season lineup, with three shows created by Lookingglass Ensemble Members.

Sideshow Theatre Company is pleased to welcome three new artistic associates to the company, and to announce the newest playwrights selected for its annual "The Freshness Initiative," the company's commissioning and new play development program, now in its fifth year.

Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, written and directed by Ensemble Member David Catlin, from the book by Mary Shelley. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein runs May 8 August 4, 2019 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. Tickets go on sale to the public March 5, 2019. The press performances are Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Goodman Theatre proudly announces the casts for its Chicago premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Sweat by Lynn Nottage, directed by Ron OJ Parson, as well as its world premiere of Lottery Day-Ike Holter's final work in his seven-play "The Rightlynd Saga," directed by Lili-Anne Brown. Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired North American Rights to the out-of-this-world family adventure WATCH THE SKY. Breaking Glass acquired rights to the film in a deal negotiated between Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff, Miriam Elchanan, Senior Vice President of Sales at Fabrication Films, and Raymond Hsu of Watch the Sky LLC.

It is rich yet rare to find a new American play that is at once terribly funny, terribly real and utterly demanding of one's attention. Immediate Family is such a play; it's fiercely original way at looking at an American black dysfunctional family is both heartwarming and completely enjoyable. In fact, I found myself looking at this black family and listening to playwright Paul Oakley Stovall's jokes about being from a black family and found myself, although white, identifying thoroughly with the issues at play. The family is black - and much of the humor is unmistakably black - but the conflicts are universal. Under Phylicia Rashad's steady hand, Immediate Family in its West Coast premiere at the Taper is one great big hit.
