2017 Sundance Film Festival Awards Celebrate Global Independent Creative

After 10 days, 119 feature films and three feet of snow, an evening of humor and humanity marked the 2017 Sundance Film Festival's Awards Ceremony, with host Jessica Williams emceeing and jurors presenting 27 prizes for feature filmmaking in Park City, Utah. Honorees, named in total below, range from sharp comedies to provocative and timely documentaries and represent new achievements in global independent storytelling. Human stories prevailed across categories, with Grand Jury Prizes awarded to Dina (U.S. Documentary), Last Men in Aleppo (World Documentary), I don't feel at home in this world anymore. (U.S. Dramatic) and The Nile Hilton Incident (World Dramatic). Chasing Coral, showcased in the Festival's environmental program The New Climate, won an Audience Award in the U.S. Documentary category.

Over 60 Artists Set for THE ILIAD at Almeida Theatre

A company of more than 60 artists will bring The Iliad to life in a durational reading on Friday 14 August. The reading will begin at the British Museum and culminate on the Almeida stage. The marathon reading is the latest event in the theatre's Almeida Greeks Festival which has so far seen Robert Icke's critically acclaimed production of Oresteia transfer to Trafalgar Studios in the West End and James Macdonald's production of Bakkhai play to sold out houses at the Almeida.

This play is a follow-up to Ludwig's 'Postmortem' which the Minstrels staged a few years earlier. Performances of 'The Game's Afoot' will be over two weekends tonight, October 25th and November 1st at 8 P.M and 3 P.M. matinee performances on Sunday, October 26th and November 2nd at Houghton Hall - Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street in scenic Northport Village.
