With Spamilton: An American Parody currently running at the theatre, the Menier Chocolate Factory today announces full casting for their major revival of Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies. Hannah Chissick directs Jasper Britton as (Stewart), Sia Dauda (Sally), Alasdair Harvey (Peter Kroger), Chris Larkin (Bob Jackson), Macy Nyman (Julie Jackson), Tracy-Ann Oberman (Helen Kroger), Natalie Walter (Thelma) and Finty Williams (Barbara Jackson). The production opens on 1 October, with previews from 20 September, and runs until 17 November.

On Wednesday May 11th, 2018 Evolution Theatre Company hosted a staged reading of Charles Busch's The Lady In Question to benefit their 2018 Season. A freewheeling satire of patriotic 1940s thrillers. A glamorous concert pianist is challenged when a handsome American professor engages her aid in rescuing his mother from a Nazi prison. The reading was be held in the Schottenstein Property Group Pavilion of the Columbus Museum of Art.

In 1983, Hugh Whitemore turned the true story of Russian espionage into a play entitled Pack of Lies. It tells the story of the Johnsons, a nice middle aged English couple, and their best friends, the Krogers, who live next door. When Scotland Yard asks if they can use their house to investigate a spy ring, the Jacksons agree never suspecting the spies are the Krogers.

Set in the UK in 1960, Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies tells the story of the Johnsons, a nice middle aged English couple, and their best friends, the Krogers, who live next door. Imagine their surprise when a Scotland Yard detective asks to use their house to observe a Soviet espionage ring operating in the area. The Jacksons are more and more put out as Scotland Yard's demands on them increase. Then they are really put to the test when the detective asks them to help set a trap for the suspected spies...the Krogers.
