Theatre Arlington held its 45th Annual Stony Awards at 6:30pm on Sunday, September 24th, 2018, honoring actors, designers, directors, volunteers and community partners for excellence in the productions during the 2017-2018 45th anniversary season. Guests gathered at the theater for drinks before the show and were then treated to a fun, light-hearted show with Interim Executive Producer, Steven D. Morris serving as the Master of Ceremonies and Don Powers on the piano, with entertainment by some of Theatre Arlington's favorite performers: Nik Blocker, Dawn Prejean, Tevin Cates, Donovan Lawson, Emily-Kate Ivey, Daniel Hernandez and Ashlyn Nichols. Plus, an unexpected surprise visit by Spiderman! Afterwards, all gathered in the lobby for more celebrating with drinks and a reception, sponsored in part by Cooper Street Bakery.

Westport Country Playhouse will present an open-caption performance in Spanish of the Tony Award-winning musical "Man of La Mancha," on Saturday, October 13, at 3 p.m.  This is the first time in the Playhouse's history that an open-caption performance in a language other than English will be offered.  An open-caption screen with the Spanish translation in real time will be located at the side of the stage and visible by all members of the audience.

Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today the full schedule of films and panels for the 25th Anniversary festival, this October 25-November 1. AFF's feature film slate includes 23 World, North American, and US Premieres, a robust retrospective series, and highly anticipated marquee titles, including Steve McQueen's and Gillian Flynn's modern-day thriller Widows, Peter Farrelly's dramedy period piece Green Book starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen, Mike Leigh's period piece Peterloo,  Mickey Rourke-starring boxing drama Tiger, Paul Dano's Wildlife starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan, and Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges family drama Ben is Back bowing as AFF's Centerpiece selection, with writer/director Peter Hedges in attendance.

Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off the 2018-2019 with the Pennsylvania premiere of Lynn Nottage's Sweat. This Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner explores Reading, Pennsylvania's shrinking industrial economy and shares the fear, tragedy and hopefulness of a community on the verge of inevitable change. The production will kick-off the first produced season under new Producing Artistic Director Paige Price. Justin Emeka makes his Philadelphia debut directing a cast filled with local stars and Barrymore Award winners who have extensive theatre, film and television credits. Sweat will run from October 12 to November 4, 2018 at Philadelphia Theatre Company's stage at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad Street. Opening Night is Wednesday, October 17th at 7:00pm. The Newark Downtown District is the vibrant setting for a free community concert celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Newark Downtown District (NDD) on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Presented in partnership with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), this special event features live music by The Commodores and Eric Benet, soul and R&B hits with DJ Felix Hernandez, and appearances by radio personalities Shaila Scott (WBLS 107.5 FM) and DJ Wallah (HOT 97) as co-hosts.

Following the announcement of their Opening Night Film, Yen Tan's award-winning AIDS drama 1985, NewFest today announced the full lineup of their 30th annual celebration of the year's best LGBT films from around the world. The program of more than 140 narrative features, documentaries, episodic series and shorts runs from October 24-30 at the SVA Theatre, Cinépolis Chelsea, and The LGBT Community Center in New York City.

Jessie Hoffman, Producer & Artistic Director for Lightning Bolt Productions, today announced the theatrical company's first major production this season, Little Shop of Horrors.

It's the summer of 1967, and the songs of Motown are breaking records and breaking barriers. Chelle and her brother, Lank, are running an unlicensed after-hours juke joint out of their basement-risky business-especially during a brutal police crackdown that sets off riots throughout the city. When Lank offers refuge to a mysterious stranger, he and Chelle clash. Pent-up emotions erupt, and they must navigate the chaos both outside and within.

What does it mean to be male in our hyper-gendered society? Simpatico Theatre Company, a professional theatre company in Philadelphia, kicks off their season with Simpatico Theatre Projectx: 4Solo, four solo performances in rep that explore the spectrum of maleness in America. The production will be part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and will run September 19-30, 2018. These solo performances work together to explore the repercussions and revelations of our hyper gendered society. These are true stories of tap dancing, Titanic, Bjork, and broken hearts and include:
