The Nation's first professional regional theatre, Cleveland Play House (CPH), proudly announces the highly-anticipated lineup of shows in its record-breaking 100th Anniversary Season, under Artistic Director Laura Kepley.
In her curtain speech on opening night of Lend Me a Tenor, now playing at the Georgetown Palace, Artistic Director Mary Ellen Butler called playwright a Ken Ludwig a "comedic genius," and explained why she encouraged director Lannie Hilboldt to tackle the play. Hilboldt, a professional musician, has served as Musical Director on several productions and made his directorial debut with Georgetown Palace's recent production of Always, Patsy Cline. Until now, Hilboldt had not directed a play, but Butler urged him to direct Lend Me a Tenor because his musical ability would serve him well in finding the timing and rhythm of Ludwig's farce. "Music is math," Butler said to the opening night audience, "and comedy is math."
Check right in to Stockton Civic Theatre. A friendly bellhop (David Nelson) will greet you, reminding you in his own special way to turn off your cell phone and remind you of other important details. Although those welcoming lines are added for the audience's benefit, playwright Ken Ludwig easily could have written them, they fit the show so well. And Nelson's antics, which continue to delight throughout "Lend Me A Tenor," set the scene perfectly for the farce to come. Audiences will find themselves very satisfied with their just over two-hour stay at an intimate and quaint theatre in the heart of Stockton.
The Hangar Theatre has announced casting for its The 38th season, which will include a thrilling line-up of plays and musicals. The season takes off with Ken Ludwig's knock-down, drag it out farce, Lend Me A Tenor (June 21-July 7), starring Emily Skinner, Michael McCormick, Janet Dacal, Daniel Berlingeri, Lindsay Clemmons, Eddie Vona and Judy Levitt. That will be followed by the premiere of a strikingly innovative concept of the Tony winning best musical Titanic (July 12-July 28), starring Alma Cuervo, William Youmans, Drew McVety, Christianne Tisdale, Phillip Hoffman, Joneil Joplin, and Robert Cuccioli. The sophisticated comedy Full Gallop (August 2-August 11) is next, starring Dee Hoty, followed by the area premiere of the Pulitzer Prize winning musical Next to Normal (August 16-September 1), with Andrea Burns and Chris Hoch. The final offering is a true American classic, Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful (September 13-September 22), featuring Susannah Berryman.

The brand-new West End production of LEND ME A TENOR is directed by Olivier award-winning director Ian Talbot (High Society, Anything Goes) and choreographed by Tony-nominated choreographer Randy Skinner (42nd Street, White Christmas). The production is designed by Paul Farnsworth, with lighting by Tim Mitchell, and sound by Terry Jardine and Nick Lidster. The Musical Supervisor is Tony Award Winner Paul Gemignani, the Musical Director is Colin Billing, and orchestrations are by Chris Walker.
