This August In the Heights, the sizzling summer musical from Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) and Quiara Alegría Hudes (Water by the Spoonful), will launch Portland Center Stage at The Armory's 2019-2020 season. Filled with the sounds of salsa, merengue, soul, hip-hop, and R&B, this Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical takes audiences to New York's vibrant Washington Heights neighborhood. It's a community on the brink of change, where a tight-knit group of friends and neighbors struggles to achieve their dreams.

Considered by many, including Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda to be the a?oenext big thinga?? on Broadway, Mexican director, composer, arranger & orchestrator Jaime Lozano is making his Joe's Pub concert debut with a musical theatre gala entitled Songs by an Immigrant on August 18 at 7 pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by visiting joespub.publictheater.org. 

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a cult classic. People who love this musical don't just love the musical, they LOVE the musical. I, myself, have had a long time love affair with Sondheim's work. Stephen Sondheim has changed the American musical forever. As I sat in the audience on opening night of Zoetic Stage's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Arsht Center, a show I have seen many times, I threw the proverbial gauntlet at the director, Stuart Meltzer. I thought to myself, show me something I haven't seen before.

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical IN THE HEIGHTS will delight Cincinnati audiences this winter at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park beginning Jan. 19, 2019. The Broadway hit, which won four Tony Awards including best musical and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, runs through Feb. 17, 2019. Official opening night is Jan. 24, 2019.

The Kennedy Center's production of IN THE HEIGHTS concluded its run yesterday. Anthony Ramos, who originated the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Original Broadway Cast of Hamilton, starred as Usnavi in the Broadway Center Stage production of In the Heights at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Presented as a part of the inaugural season of Broadway Center Stage, a Kennedy Center-produced series of musicals in semi-staged concerts, In the Heights ran March 21-25, 2018 in the Eisenhower Theater.

Lin-Manuel Miranda surprised the standing-room-only crowd at the Kennedy Center's Broadway Center Stage production of his Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights on Saturday night. He was joined in the audience byHamilton and In the Heights music director Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton and In the Heights percussionist Andres Forero, andHamilton and In the Heights star Javier Muñoz. At the end of the performance, Lacamoire led the on stage orchestra in the show's finale with Forero joining on percussion. Miranda then joined the cast for their final bow.

Anthony Ramos, who originated the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Original Broadway Cast of Hamilton, will play Usnavi in the Broadway Center Stage production of In the Heights at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Joshua Grosso, previously announced in the role, has withdrawn from the musical due to a minor foot injury. On Dec 3rd SCOBAR Entertainment,Joseph Macchia and Doreen Montalvo produced a one night benefit concert for Puerto Rico. 'This Is What An American Looks Like' A Concert for Hope and Puerto Rico. The Sold out show featured performers from the hit musicals In The Heights, On Your Feet and Hamilton. Drama Desk Award winner and original cast member of In The Heights and On Your Feet Doreen Montalvo hosted the evening.

SCOBAR Productions, Joseph Macchia and Doreen Montalvo will present 'This Is What America Looks Like, A Concert For Hope and Puerto Rico' on December 3rd at 8:30 PM at the Iridium Jazz Club.
