by Rebecca Russo
- Jul 23, 2016
Last Summer, Theatre Horizon began a new Summer Concert Series called 42nd and Main. Each year, Theatre Horizon brings together Philadelphia and Broadway stars for a one-night only concert reading. This year, the theatre brings audiences Alex Timbers' raucous musical about America's First Political Populist President, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Thursday, August 4 at 7:30 p.m. Along with this extremely relevant musical, Theatre Horizon is introducing an innovative ticketing system for this event. With this event, Theatre Horizon will institute a test run of Pay What You Decide Ticketing. Tickets can be reserved online at www.theatrehorizon.org.

Pandora Productions to Present Lillian Hellman's THE CHILDREN'S HOUR
by Tyler Peterson
- Mar 2, 2016
Pandora Productions continues the 2015-2016 season with Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour. A play that was too scandalous to be considered for a Pulitzer in 1934 due to its lesbian theme. Ms. Hellman, known as much for her politics as for her playwrighting, penned this, her first play, at the tender age of 29. She would become one of the most famous female playwrights of the century. The play explores issues of homosexual persecution in that time period. Pandora is proud to bring this play to life during Women's History month.
Pandora Productions to Present THE BOYS IN THE BAND
by Tyler Peterson
- Dec 15, 2015
Pandora Productions continues the 2015-2016 season with an oldie but a goodie. Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band is the quintessential 'gay' play, breaking down boundaries and exploring new topics in its Off-Broadway run of over 1000 performances in the Spring of 1968. Before Boys, gay men were 'fops' and 'dandies' but this play changed it all. Since it was on stage a full year prior to Stonewall, Boys proved to be quite prescient in retrospect. Some historians have said that the play's production in advance of Stonewall set the stage for the events that unfolded there, gays would no longer be kept in the closet. The dark comic play explores issues of self-loathing, internalized homophobia, racial biases and more.
