This upcoming season, Live at The Lortel looks at the intersection between art and activism. We honor the work of theater artists who boldly use their public platform for philanthropy, to advance the state of theater, and to support the issues that they are passionate about. We look to explore how an artist's passion for activism and philanthropy influences their artistry on the stage.

The Washington Stage Guild continues our series of online presentations with a play perfectly suited to an online format.  To follow our well-received streamed performances of George Bernard Shaw’s Don Juan in Hell, The Devil’s Disciple and How He Lied to Her Husband, we offer a play that explores the private life of our “house playwright,”  George Bernard Shaw - Jerome Kilty’s 1957 epistolary play, Dear Liar, streaming free of charge from September 29th at 8 PM through October 3rd at 8 PM. 

Returning to the stage in New York City this fall, six-time Tony- and Emmy-nominated actor Tovah Feldshuh will star in a tour-de-force theatrical show Becoming Dr. Ruth, presented Off-Broadway at Edmond J. Safra Hall at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust.

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University announced today the creative team and company of artists for the live premiere of Ayodele Casel: Chasing Magic. With the long-running Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope, in which she also starred, she became the first woman to win a Grammy Award for the score of a Broadway musical. She also received Tony nominations for book, music, and lyrics. Another Grammy nomination for the score (with Alex Bradford) of Your Arms Too Short to Box with God followed, as well as another Tony nomination for the score of Working.
