Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the 2020 TCG Gala: Our Stories will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at The Edison Ballroom (240 W 47th Street). The Gala will honor the National Black Theatre Festival of Winston-Salem and David Henry Hwang and will include festive performances, inspiring speakers, and a celebratory dinner with theatre leaders, celebrities, and enthusiasts. A 6:00pm cocktail reception will be followed by a 7:00pm seated dinner, with entertainment beginning at 7:20pm. Additional programming will be announced soon.
Theatre Royal Bath Productions has today announced casting for the UK premiere of Will Eno's Drama Desk Award winning play The Realistic Joneses which will be staged in the Ustinov Studio from Thursday 6 February to Saturday 7 March 2020 with opening night for press on Wednesday 12 February 2020. The full cast includes Corey Johnson as Bob, Sharon Small as Jennifer, Jack Laskey as John and Clare Foster as Pony. The production is directed by Simon Evans.

Today, LA-based indie folk artist Cory Becker shares 'Rivers', the second single off his upcoming debut album One. Buzzbands LA premiered the track earlier this week, praising, 'It's an album that in many ways embraces the traditions of American folk music yet abides an important creative M.O.: Go where the song takes you. Becker transforms 'Rivers' from a simple paean to acceptance into an incandescent, almost-cosmic meditation that rises and falls over rustling percussion and pedal steel employed as an element of ambient drone. Think of it as a cowboy mystic's take on 'Que Sera, Sera'.' Lead single 'Haunt', released in October, was featured on Spotify's coveted Fresh Finds playlist. Tony Award nominated actor Ben Davis will star as El Gallo in The Link Theatre's inaugural production of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt's The Fantasticks. The first professional theatre company in Northeast Arkansas, The Link is a new non-profit theater company located in Jonesboro, AR. Casting is set for Studio Theatre's production of Pipeline, playwright Dominique Morisseau's searing drama about the school-to-prison pipeline and a mother desperately trying to keep her son from becoming ensnared in it. The production runs January 15-February 16, 2020 and is directed by Awoye Timpo. Starring are DC theatre favorite Justin Weaks (Studio's Curve of Departure) as high school student Omari and Andrea Harris Smith making her Studio debut as his mother, public school teacher Nya. In its recent People Issue, Washington City Paper's called Weaks a 'standout,' going on to say: 'D.C. theater audiences love Justin Weaks. ...Weaks came to D.C. for a job about four years ago, not expecting to stay. But he kept getting cast in shows, and lucky for local theatergoers, he's still here.'
