Nine Artists Selected for JACK Artist Residencies

JACK has announced the nine artists selected for residencies at JACK. Chosen from an open call that drew 169 submissions, the artists include theater-makers Carolina Đỗ, Kedian Keohan, Drew Drake and Jadele McPherson, designers Itohan Edoloyi and Tuçe Yasak, composers Jaime Lozano and Sugar Vendil, and dance artist Nora Alami.
Teatro Chelsea Announces A-Típico Playwrights and Plays

Teatro Chelsea set out to find plays by Latinx playwrights that capture Latinx narratives on the edge of the spotlight, those stories not often told. From 46 submissions, Teatro Chelsea chose six “a-típico” plays—four full-length and two one-acts— that will leave audiences with jaws dropped, hearts full, and feeling artistically refreshed.

Music Director and Roy and Lillie Cullen Chair, Andrés Orozco-Estrada returns to Houston in May to close out the 2020–21 Season with two magnificent Classical Series concerts featuring Mozart's Sinfonia concertante, K. 297b, E flat major and Piazzolla's Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (Four Seasons of Buenos Aires), May 7–9; and a program of instantly recognizable and famous overtures including Mozart's Don Giovanni, Beethoven's Egmont, Mendelssohn's The Hebrides, and more, May 14–16. And, for the first time, Orozco-Estrada will conduct the livestream of the BBVA Family Series, May 15 at 11 a.m.
