92nd Street Y has announced an exciting spring lineup of theatre-centric programming, featuring many of today's Broadway favorites. 

Marilyn Maye, who usually swings at night, showed the early afternoon crowd at the 92Y TALKS audience she can do it in the afternoon too.

Harvey Granat is a cabaret performer, Broadway producer and historian of the American popular song. Will Friedwald is a critic, music historian and author of eight books, including the upcoming The Great Jazz and Pop Vocal Albums (Pantheon Books, October 24).

Where do playwrights get their ideas? What does a producer do? How does the director choose his or her cast and collaborators? How do the performers stay fresh for eight performances a week?

Though all of Harvey Granat's midday events are illuminating and entertaining, his most recent SONGS AND STORIES on March 16 at 92Y could've easily continued at least another half hour buoyed by audience enthusiasm. The event's special guests, author/producer/journalist Will Friedwald (who has his own 92Y series), and President of Jimmy Van Heusen's catalog, his great nephew, Brook Babcock, were both knowledgeable, engaging raconteurs. It was also a great pleasure to watch the two men join infectiously enjoying the afternoon.
