NEA Jazz Master Annie Ross and jazz vocal legend Andy Bey, plus other stars of the jazz and nightclub worlds, gather to salute the music of 20th-century genius Noel Coward in "ENGLAND SWINGS: Noel Coward in Jazz" at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola for two performances tonight, June 18th. Shows are at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. There is a $25 cover and $10 minimum at tables, and a $5 cover at the bar. Food is available. Feinstein's at Leows Regency will continue its Winter/Spring 2012 season with THE HARRY ALLEN QUINTET playing numbers from "The Sound of Music" as part of Feinstein's monthly night Jazz series.

52nd Street was the Jazz Center of NYC in the 1930s 40s & 50s. For those yearning for great music, the ambience (and black & white photos) of that glorious bygone era, you can now find it on 61st Street & Park Avenue. Harry Allen's Monday Night Jazz brings you back to that time with an assemblage of some of the finest musicians and vocalists in the world. It all takes place in the glamorous setting of Feinstein's and with dinner, dancing plus 3 sets of music. Adding to the fun were these great musicians 'hanging' with the audience on their breaks. The night I was there the group consisted of (I'll avoid the superlatives) Mike Renzi on piano, Dan Barrett trombone, Joel Forbes bass, Chuck Riggs drums and of course Harry Allen on sax. The vocalists were Rebecca Kilgore, Lynn Roberts, and Nicki Parrott. Harry's next show is an evening of Brazilian music with Jobim alumni Maucha Adnet and Deduce DaFonseca on November 7th.

Bell, founder of the 20 year-old retro-swing band Bellevue Cadillac (www.bellevuecadillac.com ) and nominated for 9 Grammys since 2007, just returned from Italy where he recorded a CD with another legendary ‘Professor': Professor Louie of the Crowmatix, who co-produced, engineered and performed on Bob Dylan and The Band's last recordings in 1974.
