On April 8th, producer Marty Richards' feast of friends and loved ones gathered in celebration of his extremely accomplished life at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street) where they were entertained by a star-studded retrospective of show-stopping numbers from Mr. Richards' acclaimed Broadway musicals including Chicago, On The Twentieth Century, The Life, Grand Hotel, Sweeney Todd, La Cage Aux Folles, Sweet Smell Of Success, The Will Rogers Follies and Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life. The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center is set to honor Christopher Plummer at a gala event tonight, April 15th in New York City. The 13th Annual Monte Cristo Award will be presented to Mr. Plummer by fellow stage and film legend Kevin Spacey. Mr. Spacey was the recipient of the Monte Cristo Award in 2009. Red carpet and cocktails begin at 6:30pm at the Edison Ballroom on West 47th Street, followed by dinner, and a program celebrating the honoree.

BroadwayWorld has just confirmed that PRINCE OF BROADWAY, the new musical celebrating legendary Broadway director and producer Harold 'Hal' Prince has now been postponed indefinitely due to scheduling conflicts.

Jedlicka Performing Arts Center concludes its 2012-13 season with the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Monty Python's SPAMALOT with book and lyrics by Eric Idle, music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, directed by Dante J. Orfei, music direction by John Warren and choreography by Christopher Pazdernik. Monty Python's SPAMALOT plays April 19 - May 4, 2013 at the Jedlicka Performing Arts Center, 3801 S. Central Ave. in Cicero.

A human ball of silver glitter hanging from a cord is lowered above what looks like a bungalow-sized muffin top.  (It's supposed to represent a turtle shell.)  Before the glitter ball makes its landing the cover is removed to reveal what looks like a tribe of humanish amphibians bouncing on trampolines and twirling on the muffin/turtle's frame.  Shortly after, a sleazy-looking clown in a tropical shirt tosses a condom to a woman in the front row and says, 'Call me!'  Yes, dear readers, Cirque du Soleil is back in town.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that the 2013 Public Theater annual gala will celebrate the company's acclaimed 1980 production of the musical, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, with a one-night-only concert performance on Monday, June 10 at the Delacorte Theater where The Public's production originally premiered more than three decades ago. Sir Howard Stringer, Arielle Tepper Madover, and Renee Beaumont will serve as Gala Co-Chairs for this unforgettable evening that will also honor the late Nora Ephron who was a longtime Public Theater board member and consummate lover of Shakespeare in the Park.
