In 2009-10, Centerstage decided to take the plunge and try something that, though they had been pondering it for years, was totally new. The result has been a season of nonstop, almost unprecedented stylistic diversity. And a heck of a lot of activity. On our two stages, by season's end, they'll have hosted 14 different performances, running the gamut from intimate cabarets to a rollicking special-engagement holiday show to a three-week festival of readings (coming in April), alongside six fully staged theatrical productions. If you saw even half of what was put on this year, you saw a season of theater like few in Baltimore's history.

The A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program and Young Conservatory present the world premiere production of Riot, celebrated Irish playwright Ursula Rani Sarma's hard-hitting play, in the newest commission from A.C.T.'s international partnership with Britain's Theatre Royal Bath. Directed by Young Conservatory Director Craig Slaight and featuring young actors from the A.C.T. M.F.A. Program and Young Conservatory, Riot follows the story of a young man who lands in a residency clinic for emotionally disturbed teens following an unexpected act of violence. Riot weaves Max's relationships with his fellow patients, his doctor, and his nurses into a moving portrait of the deep human need for connection. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey announced today that it will present Harold Pinter's No Man's Land as part of its 2010 Season. But all have chosen to spend the last three years in New York City, two express subway stops from Broadway, following their dream and refining their craft as actors, directors or playwrights in the only Masters' theater program endorsed by the renowned Actors Studio.

Pacific Stages will follow up their debut production of Lobby Hero with the world premiere of Something Happened, by award-winning playwright L. Trey Wilson. Something Happened runs April 1 through May 16 at Pacific Stages in El Segundo and will be directed by L. Trey Wilson. The press opening begins April 8 and there will be an opening reception Saturday, April 10.

The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, will welcome esteemed French actor and comedian Sami Frey in Samuel Beckett's acclaimed work, Premier Amour. On April 9 and 10, Frey will inhabit Beckett's poetry and wit for two nights only of special performances.
