Originally a stage for nationwide radio broadcasts for such legendary stars as Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Jack Benny and Bing Crosby, the theatre later became the home to the celebrated Actor's Workshop, best known for presenting interpretations of modern avant-garde and politically oriented works by such playwrights as Bertolt Brecht, Harold Pinter and Tennessee Williams. The theatre was also the first home to American Conservatory Theater.
