It can be daunting for any young writer, but thanks to a program The New York Youth Symphony's Musical Theater Songwriting (MTS) Program, aspiring musical theater students now have a place to hone their craft.

The Joyce Theater Foundation has announced the long-awaited return of Pacific Northwest Ballet, the company’s first full NYC season in six years. Presenting two mixed-bill programs, the company will play Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater, kicking-off with a special gala performance on June 22 followed by two repertory programs through June 26.

Carnegie Hall today announced the release of NYO Jazz’s first full-length studio album, We’re Still Here, featuring Artistic Director and Bandleader/trumpeter Sean Jones and special guest Melissa Aldana on tenor saxophone, plus an appearance by trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, available on June 24, 2022.

BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present Nashville vocalist Wendy Moten – best known for her 2021 run on NBC’s “The Voice” – in a special concert on Monday, May 16 at 7:00 PM. Her show will include songwriter Richard Whiting hits including “He’s Funny That Way,” “My Ideal,” “Miss Brown,” and “Too Marvelous For Words.”

On April 25, 2022, The New York Pops celebrated their 39th Birthday with their yearly gala (the first since 2019), honoring Broadway legends Kristen and Bobby Lopez in: 'For The First Time In Forever: The Songs Of Kristen And Bobby Lopez!' The EGOT winning duo is known for their works on Broadway for the long-running smash hit 'The Book of Mormon' and modern Disney classics such as 'Frozen.' They recently won an Emmy for their song 'Agatha All Along' from Marvel Studios' 'Wandavison.'

NO EXIT new music ensemble performs works by The Collective in two New York City concerts, May 11 at Queens College and May 12 at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Due to circumstances beyond their control, Chamber Players International, celebrating its 50th Anniversary season, has rescheduled their New Music Concert from April 26 to Tuesday, May 10, 2022 @ 7:30 PM at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music's Mary Flagler Cary Hall, 450 W. 37th St in Manhattan.

Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater Foundation, announced today that Aaron Mattocks, the organization’s Director of Programming, will step down effective July 15, 2022.

An acclaimed conductor, clinician and speaker, and soloist, Núñez has been with YPC since 2004 and has played a significant role in fostering the award -wining choir's key programs as well as providing vision for new initiatives. In her new role, Núñez will lead YPC's creative programming efforts.

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, are thrilled to announce that the critically acclaimed, world premiere production of THE PLAY YOU WANT, written by Bernardo Cubría and directed by Michael John Garcés will have a three-week extension following its announced closing on April 24.

For decades, the Afghanistan we know from the news has been a country of war, unspeakable violence, and the goings-on of an intractable band of fundamentalists set on taking its culture back centuries. It's hard to imagine it as a place where everyday life also included music, a wide variety of music ranging from folk and pop songs to the rich, high-flowing poetry of ghazals.
