Drama Desk-nominated composer Robert Waldman (The Robber Bridegroom) and librettist/lyricist Marjorie Duffield premiere selections from their musical-in-process Final Act at New York Theatre Barn's monthly platform for new musicals, NYTB in the D-Lounge (at the Daryl Roth Theatre) tonight, May 14, 2012.

New Musical SPEARGROVE PRESENTS Inspired By Halted Productions Of RENT. New York Theatre Barn will present a developmental production of the new musical SPEARGROVE PRESENTS today May 14 through May 16, 2012 at The Cell in Chelsea, NYC. The musical is the company's first commission and has book/lyrics by Sammy Buck (Like You Like It, Stinky Kids, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus) and music/lyrics by Brandon James Gwinn (Matchmaker, Matchmaker - I'm Ready to Settle). The presentation is made possible in part by the National Alliance for Musical Theater's Writers' Residency Grant.

Friar Jamie deRoy chose the Friars Club as the setting for the latest addition of Jamie deRoy & Friends, which is in it's 21st year. The show included performances by Karen Akers, Tony DeSare, Heather Mac Rae Kevin Meaney and Julia Murney. Musical Director was Don Rebie and direction was by Barry Kleinbort.

Kenita Miller, Carly Hughes, et al. Set for STAND BY THE RIVER, 7/25

On Monday, June 25, 2011, New York Theatre Barn will present its monthly platform, now in its 4th year, for emerging musical theatre writers at The Duplex (the series usually plays the Daryl Roth D-Lounge, by will play The Duplex for the summer). Featured writers for the July 25th installment include Mark Sutton Smith (Stand By The River), and Daniel Green. Executive Producers for NYTB in the D-Lounge are Laura Brandel and Karen Marshall.

Performers for the evening include Alex Brightman (Wicked), Carrie Manolakos (Mama Mia, Things to Ruin), Lorinda Lisitza (Triumphant Baby, ReWrite), Lauren Marcus (ReWrite), Jeremy Morse (Bloodsong of Love), Jason 'SweetTooth' Williams (Bloodsong of Love, Things To Ruin), Jenny Donoghue, Raelyn Hennessee, Jared Miller, Anthea Neri, Riley Thomas, and Miranda Whaley. Executive Producers for NYTB in the D-Lounge are Laura Brandel and Karen Marshall.

De Waal, Young, et al. Set for A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN COMPOSERS, 5/23

On the eve of the opening of I Married Wyatt Earp, New York Theatre Barn will present A Celebration of Women Composers. The evening will benefit New York Theatre Barn and will feature songs by emerging songwriters Julia Meinwald (Pregnancy Pact), Zoe Sarnak (The Quad), Katya Stanislavskaya (Women on Love), and Shaina Taub (The Daughters).

WYATT EARP Celebrates Women Composers At 59E59 Theaters 5/20-6/12

As previously announced, New York Theatre Barn in collaboration with Prospect Theater Company will present the new all-female musical I Married Wyatt Earp at 59E59 Theaters May 20 - June 12, 2011. The production officially opens on Tuesday, May 24 and stars Heather Mac Rae (Falsettos, Hair, A Catered Affair) and Carolyn Mignini (Tintypes, Fiddler on the Roof).
