STAGE TUBE: On This Day 11/3- CAMELOT

Today in 1960, Camelot opened at the Majestic Theatre, where it ran for 873 performances. Camelot is a musical by Alan Jay Lerner (book and lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music). It is based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T. H. White tetralogy novel The Once and Future King. The original 1960 production, directed by Moss Hart and orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett and Philip J. Lang, won four Tony Awards and spawned several revivals, foreign productions and a 1967 film version.

CAMELOT Begins Performances Tomorrow at Drury Lane Theatre

Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, presents the iconic love story CAMELOT, the winner of four Tony Awards, previewing October 30, opening November 6 and running through January 4, 2015. The all-star cast is led by Ken Clark (Titanic on Broadway, First National Tour of La Cage Aux Folles, Netflix's House of Cards) as "King Arthur," Christy Altomare (Mamma Mia! on Broadway and First National Tour of Spring Awakening) as "Guenevere," and Travis Taylor (Les Miserables and Young Frankenstein at Drury Lane Theatre) as "Lancelot." CAMELOT is directed by Alan Souza (World Premiere musicals The Little Hours and Exposure Time for New Jersey Repertory Theatre, and The Full Monty for Maltz Jupiter Theatre) making his Chicago debut. Drury Lane's production shines new light on this majestic musical that will feature new orchestrations by Matt Aument and a unique scenic approach that blends medieval fantasy with the opulence of the 12th Century court life.

CAMELOT National Tour Coming to the Morris Center, 12/5-6

The 2014/2015 National Tour of Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT reimagines the classic tale of King Arthur, Guenevere and Lancelot. The 2014/2015 National Tour of Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT reimagines the tale of King Arthur, Guenevere and Lancelot as it launches its national tour on Tuesday, October 7th in Macon, GA. Tour dates include Nashville, Providence, Omaha, Fayetteville, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Fort Myers, Wilmington, Hartford and St. Paul among others. Camelot is a musical by Alan Jay Lerner (book and lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music). It is based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T. H. White tetralogy novel The Once and Future King. The original 1960 production, directed by Moss Hart and orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett and Philip J. Lang, ran on Broadway for 873 performances, winning four Tony Awards and spawning several revivals, foreign productions and a 1967 film version. The 1980 cast starred Richard Burton, Christine Ebersole, and Richard Muenz.

National Tour of CAMELOT Coming to TPAC, 11/4-9

The national tour of Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT reimagines the classic tale of King Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot, and Nashville audiences can fall in love again with this beloved musical, which will play Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall for a limited, one-week engagement November 4-9.

The 1993 cast starred Robert Goulet, Steve Blanchard, and Patricia Kies.

Two River Theater Announces 2014-15 Season, Featuring New Play Written and Helmed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, announces the lineup of productions for its 2014/15 Season. The year will include world-premiere plays and musicals that have been developed at the theater, including Your Blues Ain't Sweet Like Mine, a new play written and directed by Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson; and Be More Chill, a musical by Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz, adapted from the novel by Ned Vizzini and directed by Scott Ellis. The season will also include a range of world masterpieces and American classics, and work for audiences ages three and up

Laura Michelle Kelly, Brian Stokes Mitchell & Ryan Silverman to Lead Kennedy Center's CAMELOT Concert on 5/4

For its 22nd annual Spring Gala, the Kennedy Center will salute the more than 13 year tenure of Kennedy Center president Michael M. Kaiser with Camelot in Concert on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall. The famed 1960 musical features book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner with music by Frederick Loewe and this semi-staged concert version will be adapted, directed and choreographed by Tony Award® nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge. The concert staging will be accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director James Moore. With this concert, Camelot makes its Kennedy Center debut. One of the co-chairs of the 2014 Spring Gala will be Laysha Ward, President, Target Community Relations.
