Soka Performing Arts Center to Present Pianist Yefim Bronfman

Soka Performing Arts Center presents internationally-acclaimed pianist Yefim Bronfman in a solo piano recital on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 3pm. 'Listening to Bronfman play... is like being in a crowded room when suddenly a profound conversationalist begins to speak and everyone just steps back to listen with rapt attention.' What more needs to be said about this titan of the piano whose playing exhibits all the elements - humor, playfulness, roguishness, nobility, and passion - of Beethoven's sonatas. Community Arts Music Association Announces Pre-Concert Lecture Series

Community Arts Music Association (CAMA) of Santa Barbara will present a free, public lecture immediately prior to each of its six International Series concerts through the remainder of the 2019-20 season beginning January 27. A project of the CAMA Women's Board, the lectures will take place at the Santa Barbara Central Library's Faulkner Gallery and (in one case) the New Vic Theater. Lectures start at 6:45 pm unless otherwise noted. International Series concerts are presented at the Granada Theatre.

Tippet Rise Announces Fifth Concert Season Highlights For Summer 2020

Tippet Rise Art Center is pleased to announce highlights and dates of its fifth anniversary concert season, July 10 through August 29, 2020. The art center, which opened in 2016 and celebrates the union of land, art, architecture, and music, will present seven weeks of concerts featuring an impressive list of artists, many of them making their debuts at Tippet Rise. Complete program details will be announced on February 18 and tickets will be available through a randomized drawing, which will open on the Tippet Rise website on the same day at 12pm MST/2pm EST and remain open until 5pm MST/7pm EST on March 9, 2020.

The Actors Fund, the national human services organization for everyone in performing arts and entertainment, will hold its Annual Gala on Monday, April 6, 2020. The evening will celebrate Tony Award-winning actor Matthew Broderick and Emmy Award-winning actor, producer and designer Sarah Jessica Parker; Tony Award-winning actor and Chairman of The Actors Fund Brian Stokes Mitchell; Academy Award-winning producer, co-owner of the New York Football Giants, and philanthropist Steve Tisch; and American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) President Richard L. Trumka as they receive The Actors Fund's Medal of Honor.

a?oePower to the People!a?? has a place in the history of protest as a slogan written on placards and chanted in the streets, but its sentiments of solidarity and humanitarian spirit have been immortalized in music. Between March 5 and April 11, 2020, the LA Phil's Music and Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel and Creative Chair for Jazz Herbie Hancock will bring together musicians, artists and activists representing a variety of musical traditions and social movements for Power to the People!, a festival about finding your voice and using it.

Long Beach Opera Announces Yuval Sharon As Interim Director

Long Beach Opera announces Yuval Sharon will serve as the company's Interim Artistic Advisor, who will work together with LBO leadership to plan LBO's 2021 season. Sharon will curate the 2021 season, including selecting the operas, productions, and artistic teams. He will also participate as director for one of the season productions.

San Diego Opera Presents Ailyn Perez And Joshua Guerrero In Concert For One Amazing Night

San Diego Opera's 2019-2020 season continues with a special one-night-only event on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 7:30 PM when soprano Ailyn Pérez and tenor Joshua Guerrero perform in concert at the Balboa Theatre. They will be accompanied by pianist Abdiel Vázquez. Ailyn Pérez is no stranger to San Diego Opera, having made her Company debut as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet in 2010, returning to sing Marguerite in Faust in 2011, and in recital in 2014. In demand at all the major opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, and Opéra National de Paris, Ms. Pérez is the winner of the 2012 Richard Tucker Award, the 15th annual Plácido Domingo Award, and the 14th annual Opera News Award.

Deborah Bertling Named CAMA Women's Board President

Deborah Bertling, an award-winning actress and opera singer who is active in local music education programs, has been appointed president of the Women's Board of Community Arts Music Association (CAMA). Also serving as Women's Board officers are Musette Profant (first vice president), Marna Coday (second vice president), Lois Kroc (recording secretary), and Martha Osborne (corresponding secretary).

YOLA Musicians Join The LA Phil's Barbican Residency In November

Musicians from YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) and YOLA National will join Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil for their return to the Barbican in London this November. The visit will mark the beginning of a new three-year relationship with the Barbican as its International Orchestral Partner and is a part of the final leg of the LA Phil's three-continent Centennial tour.

PSO Celebrates 100-Year-Old Cello Concerto With Pablo Ferrández

On Saturday, October 26 at 8 pm and Sunday, October 27 at 4 pm, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) celebrates 100 years of Sir Edward Elgar's beloved Cello Concerto in E Minor, Op. 85 with a performance featuring soloist Pablo Ferrández. Mr. Ferrández caused a sensation this summer when he performed at the Hollywood Bowl to critical acclaim with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Also on the program of late romantic works are Jean Sibelius' The Swan of Tuonela and Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 3 in F Major, Op. 90. Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov conducts. Both concerts are at historic Richardson Auditorium, in Alexander Hall on the campus of Princeton University. 

Los Angeles Philharmonic Announces New CEO, Chad Smith

Los Angeles Philharmonic Board Chair Thomas L. Beckmen announced today, on behalf of the Board of Directors and Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel, that Chad Smith has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, David C. Bohnett Chief Executive Officer Chair, of the Association, to begin immediately.
