Parson's Nose Theater (PNT), the acclaimed, Los Angeles' professional, classical comedy theater company, kicks off their 2018-19 season this weekend with "Mark Twain and Friends: A River Journey. This is an original play by Los Angeles playwright and actor, Greg White. The production is partly sponsored by the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Department. It begins the second season in their new home in Pasadena.

These were drab times and, as is the case, since the arts represent the era from which they come, the theatre of that time period represented two extremes: heavy drama reflecting the negative mood of the nation and escapism to make people feel better by hiding from their angst-filled reality.

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma opens their 2017 Season with Stephen Sondheim's ASSASSINS. Michael Baron's production pushes the right buttons without going too far over the edge. It is startling to find how recognizable we find these characters: to see the pain, loss, and instability that plagued the lives of these criminals, we begin to find more similarities than differences…they are our neighbors, our relatives, or-unnervingly-ourselves. With the current divisive political climate, Lyric's production seems more timely than ever.

Many people know Peter Lawson Jones as an attorney, business consultant and former Cuyahoga County Commissioner. Some even know that he is a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actor's Equity and has appeared in films and network television as well as numerous Northeast Ohio and Off-Broadway plays. TED, the nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, and PBS just launched the first ever TED TALKS LIVE, a six-night speaker event featuring TED Talks, short films and performances at The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street) in New York's famed Theater District.
