Come an hour early to the El Portal Theatre and take a peak inside the lovely small Marilyn Monroe Theatre lobby, adjacent to the Mainstage and peruse the myriad of photos adorning the walls. They represent a delicious collection of candids of the iconic star. Then proceed on in to the Mainstage playing area for the 8 o'clock show ... you will gasp when Sunny Thompson comes on stage in character as MM. You first see her naked on a bed wrapped in silk sheets ...in live photographic implosions as the camera clicks away. The likeness will astound you.  

MARILYN: FOREVER BLONDE, a one-woman play with music, starring Sunny Thompson, is coming to the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside. The show will run for one performance at 8 pm, on Saturday, October 24, 2015, as part of the Broadway in Riverside series. Sunny Thompson stars as Marilyn Monroe. Playwright Greg Thompson developed the script from Marilyn Monroe's own words.

Like many from my generation, our love of screen icon Marilyn Monroe made her a star and continues to keep the flame of her incredibly hot sexual appeal alive. And while I have seen several performers take on the role. The amazing Sunny Thompson fully embodies the heart and soul, not just the heat and breathy voice we associate with the woman who encapsulated what a woman was supposed to look like long before the Kardasians were even born. Sunny Thompson truly embodies her look and voice, and seemingly channels the tortured, playful soul of Hollywood's greatest star.

Every June, curious Washington, DC area theatregoers can experience the work of emerging local and national playwrights at the Source Festival, organized by CulturalDC. Divided into three themes - this year it's Mistakes and Media, Love and Botany, and Science and Soulmates - the festival comprises 3 full-length plays, 18 ten-minute plays, and 3 artistic blind dates that each relate to one of the themes. Local playwright Timothy Guillot's The Word and the Wasteland, presented as the centerpiece of 'Mistakes and Media,' is but one of the full-length plays offered this year. TRT2, Tampa Repertory Theatre's laboratory arm, opened Bethany, by Laura Marks, on January 23rd at the Silver Meteor Gallery in Ybor City. The show continues Friday, January 30th through Sunday, February 8th. Performance times are 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00pm on Sundays.
