Little Rock recently celebrated their official opening night at The Sheen Center, check out the photos below! Six of the surviving members of 'The Little Rock Nine'.  In addition, the Mayor's Office proclaimed Thursday, June 14 as 'Little Rock Day' and Carla Hoke-Miller (Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment) was on hand at the top of the show to read the Proclamation from the stage

Art Exhibition Inspired by Little Rock Nine 'LR9: 1957' Now Open at The Gallery at The Sheen Center

The Gallery at The Sheen Center (18 Bleecker Street, NYC) presents 'LR9: 1957,' a multimedia group exhibition inspired by the Little Rock Nine. Curated by Ajamu Kojo, the exhibition includes oil painting, collage, sculture, found-object art and projected film works by artists including Patrick Earl Barnes, Kimberly Becoat, Paul Deo, Aimee Everett, Chet Gold, Aaqil Ka, Ajamu Kojo, Roni Nicoleand Valincy-Jean Patelli. The exhibition is open to the public through August 3. The Gallery is open daily from 9AM to 11PM. All works on exhibition are available for purchase.

Little Rock Nine Members to Receive the 2015 Lincoln Leadership Prize, 5/18

CHICAGO, April 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation (ALPLF) announced today that it will award its prestigious Lincoln Leadership Prize to the Little Rock Nine, a group of nine schoolchildren whose attendance at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, marked the end of racial segregation in U.S. public schools. On September 25, 1957, the group received a federal troop escort by the 101 st Airborne Division as they integrated the school following the Brown v Board of Education Supreme Court decision in 1954. Their actions that day, and since, have helped to define the civil rights movement.
