Juilliard Opera Will Be Presenting Mozart's COSI FAN TUTTE

Juilliard's Ellen and James S. Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts presents Mozart's Così fan tutte, conducted by alumnus Nimrod David Pfeffer and directed by faculty member David Paul, on Wednesday, November 13 and Friday, November 15, 2019, at 7:30pm, and Sunday, November 17, 2019, at 2pm in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

Ex-Vöid Return with New Single 'Only One'

Pöwer Punk group Ex-Vöid return today with their new single 'Only One' alongside its eponymously-titled b-side 'Ex-Vöid'. Both are available now via the newly-formed Prefect Records in conjunction with Don Giovanni Records. 

Zachary James To Make Metropolitan Opera Debut In AKHNATEN

Zachary James, bass, will be making his highly anticipated Metropolitan Opera debut on November 8 in the Met premiere of Philip Glass' Akhnaten. Described as a 'true stage animal' by Opera News, James is an international opera singer known for his 'huge, robust bass' which 'resonates with force' (Bach Track), 'tremendous power and presence' (The Arts Desk, London) and 'intrinsically beautiful', 'cavernous bass' with 'oomph and range' (Opera News). Akhnaten, directed by Phelim McDermott, runs November 8 through December 7. On November 23, the production will be part of the Met's 'Live in HD' movie theater transmission series and will be broadcast to cinemas across the world.

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center presents celebrated American tenor Paul Appleby in Schumann's Dichterliebe for Voice and Piano, Op. 48 (1840) with pianist Ken Noda on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 7:30pm at Alice Tully Hall. Part of a concert titled 1891: Brahms's Clarinet Quintet, the program also includes Schubert's Fantasie in F minor for Piano, Four Hands, D. 940, Op. 103 (1828) and Brahms's Quintet in B minor for Clarinet, Two Violins, Viola, and Cello, Op. 115 (1891) performed by pianist and Artistic Director Wu Han, violinists Aaron Boyd and Francisco Fullana, violinist and violist Yura Lee, cellist Keith Robinson, and clarinetist David Shifrin.

Opera At Florham Presents LA BELLA MUSICA DI BEL CANTO

On Sunday, November 3rd at 2 pm, Opera at Florham presents 'La Bella Musica di Bel Canto' in the beautiful and historic Lenfell Hall at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Baritone Samuel McDonald, soprano Brenna Markey and tenor Ian Matthew Castro perform Bel Canto opera selections emphasizing the beauty of the human voice by composers such as Donizetti, Rossini and Bellini. After a short intermission with light refreshments, the artists further explore 'beautiful singing' from the worlds of art song and Broadway. Artistic Director Mary Pinto provides piano accompaniment while narration by Mariana Karpatova provides insight into the history and meaning behind 'Bel Canto' and the relevant composers and operas of the period.

Multi award-winning Foothill Theatre Arts presents Bertolt Brecht's satirical masterpiece about the rise of a demagogue, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, in a stunning new adaption by Pulitzer, Olivier and Tony Award-winning American playwright, Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park) making its Bay Area premiere. BWW Review: MN OPERA'S Scintillating ELEKTRA Opens Exceptional 2019-2020 SEASON

The Minnesota Opera (MN OPERA) christened their new season at St. Paul's Ordway Center with Richard Strauss' 1909 score of ELEKTRA combined with a libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. After a century, Strauss' Elektra, a tragic Greek myth, confronts the wrath of God on men, and the revenge of families on their own parents and siblings to disastrous results. A stellar creative team, which inhabits all the MN Opera productions, provides a modern twist to the ancient myth, where the action has been forwarded to the early 1900's. At that time, Austrian filmmaker and producer, Fritz Lang (1890-1976), made history directing silent film noira?"when melodramas were a consistent source of entertainment. 

JBXDR Has Shared His New Single 'Like L'

JBXDR has shared his new single 'Like L' in a premiere via popular Youtube channel Madorasindahouse. The track is set for release on 18 October via Springstoff. The Experimental drummer and innovative live performer has already seen support from Resident Advisor, Data Transmission, Clash Magazine, Son Of Marketing, Elicit Magazine and Broadway World, as well as radio support from Amazing Radio. He has worked alongside notable producers such as Andy Baldwin ​(Hidden Orchestra​, Belle & Sebastian​), Jeremy Loucas ​(Spacepilot​), Diana Krall (Order Of Canada​) and Terry Lynn Carrington ​(Giovanni Tommaso Quintet​). JBXDR has showcased his talent of the stages of Fringe and The Great Escape ​in Brighton, UK, as well as a string of German festivals including Reeperbahn Festival​, Übel und Gefährlich​, Hakken​, Badehaus​, Plötzlich am Meer​, At.tension #7​, LALA Festival​, and Habitat Festival. He was selected by software music sequencer Ableton Live to be featured in collaboration with Mattokind for several live videos and a documentary presented on their site.

Lucas Meachem to Replace Ildar Abdrazakov in Lyric's DON GIOVANNI

Lyric Opera of Chicago announced today that American baritone Lucas Meachem will portray the title role of Mozart's Don Giovanni November 14 - 30. Due to a family situation in Europe, Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov has had to withdraw from Lyric's production in order to be closer to home in the coming months.

Athena Film Festival Announces Inaugural Alfred P. Sloan Development Grant Winner

The Athena Film Festival at Barnard College (AFF), a joint initiative of Barnard's Athena Center for Leadership Studies and the initiative Women and Hollywood, announced screenwriter Denise Meyers as its inaugural Alfred P. Sloan Athena List Development Grant winner. Meyers' Lucky 13 script was a 2016 Athena List finalist, and tells the incredible true story of the only all-female airbase in American history, powered by unforgettable women who came from all walks of life to play a significant role in the war effort, sacrificing everything to save the B-26 Marauder aircraft from the scrap heap before being unceremoniously disbanded to make room for male civilian pilots hoping to avoid the draft. As the winner of this grant, Meyers will receive $20,000 to help advance her script to the next stage of development. The Festival will host a reception and live script-reading on October 29 at Barnard College in New York City. 

WNO Presents Mozart's Comic Masterpiece THE MAGIC FLUTE

The whimsical tale of The Magic Flute comes to life at Washington National Opera (WNO) at the Kennedy Center Opera House from November 2a?"23, 2019. Performed in English with projected surtitles, this production of The Magic Flute features design by famed children's author/illustrator Maurice Sendak. This light-hearted and comical opera is a delight for newcomers and opera fans alike.
