The 9th season of New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series launches tonight, March 1, 2016 at The Cell. The evening features pre-premieres of two new musicals: Luna and the Gold River Docks and Sapien Sapien Sapien, and also includes a sneak peek of the musical Tink.

Kirsten Scott (Follies) will replace Jenn Colella in the presentation of the new musical Luna and the Gold River Docks.

The girls who grew up admiring Ariel and humming her tunes can now have the same giddy feeling they used to get when that well-worn VHS slid into the machine. With the incomparable success of The Lion King, Disney set out to create its fair share of Broadway blockbusters. The Little Mermaid had a short lived run on the Great White Way, but that hasn't stopped other companies from having their go at a show with a lot to give.

At Birdland this past week, Jim Caruso's Cast Party was a jam-packed, sold-out crazy-quilt of talent. The weekly 'extreme' open mic night was the place to hear Broadway tunes, jazz standards, an Italian pop tune, a Beyonce hit, the blues, and a few original tunes that defied description.
