Nikki Gil (Charity Hope Valentine) and newbie theater actor, Kris Lawrence (Oscar Lindquist), led the opening of the classic Broadway musical comedy, SWEET CHARITY, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in Makati City last night.

According to EW.com, Tony Award-winning playwright David Mamet will be lending his voice to THE SIMPSONS for an episode in which he will playing an animated version of himself. In the episode, Mamet is 'a writer on Thicker Than Waters, a hokey '80s family sitcom that Homer becomes obsessed with. In a scene that winks at Mamet's penchant for using profanity, Homer winds up watching a documentary about the fictional comedy, which features old footage of Mamet getting an earful from one of the Thicker actors.'

Ms. Gil performs alongside Florence Aguilar (Sophie de Palma), Juan Alberto Gaerlan (Anthony Candolino), Ana Feleo (Sharon Graham), Francis Amora (pianist), and Chino Veguillas (stagehand). The Philippine Opera Company held a press preview of its acclaimed production of Terrence McNally's 'Master Class' Wednesday night, July 28, 2010, one day prior to the reopening of the show, which ran for a limited engagement a few years ago. This group of opera and classical music advocates has been so thrilled to bring back Philippine cinema icon Ms. Cherie Gil in her much-talked about indelible portrayal of opera diva Maria Callas in the Tony award-winning play.

On its tenth anniversary, the Philippine Opera Company ('La Boheme', 'Harana') brings back its critically acclaimed production of Terrence McNally's 1996 Tony award-winning play 'Master Class', starring Philippine cinema icon Ms. Gil in the role of the opera world's grand dame Maria Callas (1923-1977). Presented in a master class format, the straight play explores what could have transpired inside the opera's classroom with Callas at the Juilliard 1971-72, at the time when the dramatic soprano had already lost her voice.
