According to EW.com, Tony Award-winning playwright David Mamet will be lending his voice to THE SIMPSONS for an episode in which he will play an animated version of himself. In the episode,  Mamet is 'a writer on Thicker Than Waters, a hokey '80s family sitcom that Homer becomes obsessed with.'

Producer Al Jean told EW, "Obviously, it's an honor for us. In fact, we clearly ripped off the Jack Lemmon character from Glengarry Glen Ross and used him as our underachieving salesman Gil."

Tune in to FOX on January 23 to hear Mamet's performance on "Homer the Father."

David Alan Mamet is a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, who has earned Tony nominations for Glengarry Glen Ross (1984) and Speed-the-Plow (1988). As a screenwriter, he received Oscar nominations for The Verdict (1982) and Wag the Dog (1997). Mamet's books include The Old Religion (1997), a novel about the lynching of Leo Frank; Five Cities of Refuge: Weekly Reflections on Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy (2004), a Torah commentary, with Rabbi Lawrence Kushner; The Wicked Son (2006), a study of Jewish self-hatred and antisemitism; and Bambi vs. Godzilla, a commentary on the movie business.
