The South Orange Performing Arts Center will present its first event of the 2020-21 season, Independent Voices: An Evening with Bret Stephens, moderated by Budd Mishkin.

It was announced today Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon-a beloved San Francisco institution and the longest running musical revue in the world-will give its final performances on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 (New Year's Eve). Upon its closing, the show will have played a record-breaking 17,216 performances. 

The Case Against Adnan Syed, four-part documentary series directed by Amy Berg, debuts March 10, exclusively on HBO.

San Francisco Opera Guild will honor Bay Area philanthropists John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn at the sixth annual An Evening on the Stage on Wednesday, November 28. The gala dinner on the stage of the War Memorial Opera House is co-chaired by Kim Dempster and Linle J. Froeb. The set of composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer's holiday opera It's a Wonderful Life provides the magical backdrop for this year's event, when the Opera Guild's 2018 Crescendo Award will be presented to John Gunn, Chairman of San Francisco Opera's Board of Directors, and arts patron Cynthia Fry Gunn. Today, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon Producer Jo Schuman Silver announced Hats Off to 40 Years of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, a self-guided tour featuring iconic hats from the past 40 years running in May through June. With more than 20 hats being exhibited throughout the Bay Area, this is the first time in the show's history that this many hats have been displayed at one time. At 15 feet wide, 10 feet deep and 29 feet tall, visitors to Davies Symphony Hall can see the iconic Silver San Francisco Skyline Hat. Other hats include the World Hat and the Washington Hat at the de Young Museum, as well as the original Banana Carmen Hat at the SFJAZZ Center.
