New York Musical Theatre Festival's 'Next Broadway Sensation,' formerly known as 'Broadway Idol,' returns for its fourth year. Diana DeGarmo, 'American Idol' (Season 3) runner-up, now in The Toxic Avenger at New World Stages, will serve as host for the competition's first round on September 13; celebrity hosts for the semifinals on September 20 and the Broadway Sensation October 4 finale will be announced shortly. Confirmed judges include Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening, upcoming film Taking Woodstock), Bailey Hanks and Orfeh (Legally Blonde), composer/lyricist Paul Scott Goodman (Rooms), Kacie Sheik and Allison Case (Hair), and record producer Noah Cornman of Sh-k-boom Records... With more to be announced.

Laura Osnes and David Pittsinger joined the cast of Lincoln Center's SOUTH PACIFIC on March 10. The pair took over for Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot in the Tony Award-winning Rodgers & Hammerstein musical.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced today three upcoming cast changes in three featured roles in its award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, directed by Bartlett Sher at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Beginning Tuesday, January 6, Andrew Samonsky will assume the role of Lt. Joseph Cable, Eric Anderson the role of Stewpot and Matt Caplan the role of Professor, succeeding, respectively, Matthew Morrison, Victor Hawks and Noah Weisberg.

It's been an amazing thing to watch the growth of Broadway Idol (yes folks, don't be fooled by the name change due to copyright infringement fears!) over the past three years. Though it began as a kitschy idea concocted after a few gin and tonics with my good friend Lily Hung (now NYMF's Development Director) our little contest has actually grown into an exciting showcase for uber-talented and undiscovered musical theater performers. (Did you hear last year's winner, George Psomas, made his Broadway debut this year in SOUTH PACIFIC?)

New York Musical Theater Festival's 2007 'Broadway Idol' winner, George Psomas, takes a night off from his role in the acclaimed revival of South Pacific to take the stage in his solo New York concert debut on Monday August 4th (10 PM) - joined by several special guests including Tony Award nominee Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Avenue Q) and Jim Stanek (Hero in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, staring with Nathan Lane). NYMF Director of Programming Jess McLeod directs, with musical direction by Jana Zielonka, along with musicians Brad Russell and Jay Mack.
