Set in a northern English town amidst the turbulent 1984 miners' strike, Billy Elliot the Musical is the inspiring tale of one boy's journey as he exchanges his boxing gloves for ballet shoes. Featuring music by Elton John, The New York Times declares that Billy Elliot the Musical 'isn't a dance show; it's about why people need dance.'
The BMI Foundation has announced nine members of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop as the winners of its annual Musical Theatre Awards, encompassing the Jerry Harrington Awards For Outstanding Creative Achievement in Musical Theatre, the Jean Banks Award, and the newly established Ellen Schwartz Award for Outstanding Literary Merit in Lyric Writing.

'Musical Speed Dating', an evening featuring the collaborations of the BMI class of 2013-2014, will play The Duplex on Monday, November 10 at 9:30 pm. The concert will showcase the new works of these up-and-coming writers, as performed by an all-star Broadway cast including Charissa Bertels (A Christmas Story), Ali Ewoldt (Les Mis), Arlo Hill (The Phantom of the Opera) and KJ Hippensteel (The Book of Mormon).
