ODC/Dance Celebrates 30 Years of THE VELVETEEN RABBIT

ODC is pleased to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of its much-loved holiday tradition, The Velveteen Rabbit. Created and choreographed by ODC's Co-Artistic Director KT Nelson, The Velveteen Rabbit is a warm, witty interpretation of Margery Williams' time-honored children's tale.

Berkeley Rep to Premiere of John Leguizamo's New Show 'LATIN HISTORY FOR DUMMIES'

Berkeley Rep announced today it will present the world premiere of John Leguizamo: Latin History for Dummies. Written and performed by Leguizamo and directed by Berkeley Rep's Michael Leibert Artistic Director Tony Taccone, this limited engagement will run Friday, July 1-Sunday, August 14 in the newly renovated Peet's Theatre. DATE NIGHT AT PET EMERGENCY Extends at The Marsh Berkeley

The Marsh Berkeley announces that due to popular demand, Lisa Rothman's new solo show DATE NIGHT AT PET EMERGENCY will extend again through March 26. The show will also host a special Valentine's benefit on February 13 celebrating couples who have stuck it out.

The Marsh Berkeley announces due to popular demand, Lisa Rothman's new solo show DATE NIGHT AT PET EMERGENCY will extend with performances through January 23. Ever since having a second baby, Lisa and Kevin have been fighting over sippy cups, fruit salad, and impenetrable origami instructions. Now Kevin is storming around the emergency pet clinic ranting about vet bills and wondering how a dog can possibly overdose on antibiotics. Lisa doesn't know what to do - but does know this is the worst date night ever. Directed by David Ford, DATE NIGHT AT PET EMERGENCY was originally scheduled to run through December 5, but will now extend through January 23 with performances Saturdays at 5pm at The Marsh Berkeley, 2120 Allston Way, Berkeley. Tony Taccone Will Now Direct AUBERGINE at Berkeley Rep in 2016

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced that Michael Liebert Artistic Director Tony Taccone will direct the upcoming production of Aubergine, by Julia Cho, which is scheduled to have its world premiere performances at the Theatre in February 2016. Liesl Tommy, Berkeley Rep's former associate director, has had to withdraw from the production following the just-announced Broadway transfer of Eclipsed, which Tommy is directing at the Public Theater in New York.

THE JEWELRY BOX Returning to The Marsh

The Marsh presents the return of THE JEWELRY BOX, a family friendly holiday show by award-winning performer Brian Copeland (Not a Genuine Black Man, The Waiting Period, The Scion) and directed by David Ford.  THE JEWELRY BOX will play Fridays at 8pm and Saturdays at 5pm and 8pm, November 27 - December 19, 2015 at The Marsh San Francisco, 1062 Valencia Street.  For tickets ($30-$100) the public may visit www.themarsh.org or call 415-282-3055 between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Geoff Hoyle's LEAR'S SHADOW Extends at The Marsh

The Marsh has announced award-winning actor/playwright Geoff Hoyle's newest solo show Lear's Shadow will extend, with continuing performances through June 27. It may be business-as-usual when great tragedians such as Laurence Olivier, Sir Ian McKellen, and Paul Scofield perform in King Lear, but this time a great clown tackles Shakespeare's masterpiece. Audiences experience King Lear like never before as the Jester (played by Hoyle), recently unemployed, tells his side to Shakespeare's most tragic, cosmic, and human of stories in this poignant solo performance. Lear's Shadow, written in collaboration with and directed by the master of the solo form David Ford, will run Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm and Saturdays at 5pm through May 30. The Marsh Extends Brian Copeland's THE WAITING PERIOD

The Marsh announces that, due to popular demand, Brian Copeland's THE WAITING PERIOD adds a third extension through May 31. This riveting drama provides an unrelenting look at a key turning point in Copeland's life-the mandatory ten-day waiting period before he could lay his hands on the newly purchased gun with which he planned to take his own life. Featuring humorous, poignant, and compelling insights, THE WAITING PERIOD is written by Brian Copeland and directed by David Ford. Originally extended through April 19, the show will continue Sundays at 5:30pm through May 31 at The Marsh San Francisco, 1062 Valencia Street. Josh Kornbluth's HAIKU TUNNEL Returning to The Marsh in January

The Marsh San Francisco presents a revival of master storyteller Josh Kornbluth's hit solo show HAIKU TUNNEL. Inspired by Josh's real-life experiences as a temp worker at a San Francisco law office, HAIKU TUNNEL is a comic re-imagining of his disastrous transition from 'temp' to 'perm.' City of Berkeley Proclaims September 30, 2014 'Tony Taccone Day' in Honor of Berkeley Rep's Artistic Director

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announces that the City of Berkeley has proclaimed Tuesday, September 30, 2014 Tony Taccone Day. This day will honor Berkeley Rep's Michael Leibert Artistic Director Tony Taccone as a pioneer in contemporary American theatre. Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates will host a ceremony to present Taccone an official proclamation between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The ceremony will be broadcast on local radio through KPFB Radio 89.3 and on television through Cable B-TV, Channel 33.

Brian Copeland to Bring NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN & THE WAITING PERIOD Back to The Marsh

The Marsh presents the return of award-winning performer Brian Copeland in two of his acclaimed solo pieces: NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN returns to The Marsh for a 10th anniversary revival performed in rep with THE WAITING PERIOD, Copeland's acclaimed, unflinching look at depression. Says Copeland, 'With the devastating loss of Robin Williams, I hope we can now finally start a national dialogue about this largely misunderstood disease.' Performances of THE WAITING PERIOD will honor the families of those who have lost loved ones to depression. Both shows, featuring humorous, poignant, and riveting insights, are written by Brian Copeland and directed by David Ford. Stage and Screen Stars Set for ACT Fundraiser to Benefit Joan Mankin, 10/5

Luminaries of the local and national theatre scene -- including Tony Award winners Bill Irwin and David Shiner, Geoff Hoyle, Marga Gomez, Lorenzo Pisoni and Diane "Pino" Wasnak -- will appear on American Conservatory Theater's Geary Theater stage on Sunday, October 5 at 7 p.m. in a one-night-only production to benefit beloved local actor/clown Joan Mankin, aka Queenie Moon.
