The American Theatre Guild has unveiled its 2022–2023 Season for the Stranahan Theater. The BROADWAY IN TOLEDO SERIES will include the following touring productions: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, TOOTSIE, 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL, DISNEY’S THE LION KING, and DEAR EVAN HANSEN.

The Fringe is a twelve-day entertainment extravaganza designed to build community engagement through the performing arts.

Debbie Allen in association with the Rhimes Family Foundation has announced the grand opening of the new Rhimes Performing Arts Center (RPAC) which will house the Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) on Saturday, April 9 at 7pm. The evening will be presented by ABC Entertainment, ABC Signature and Netflix.

 Disney’s The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a record-breaking, sold-out premiere engagement in Greensboro. The award-winning musical broke two records at the venue during the week ending March 6, 2022: highest-grossing week with a gross of $1,958,506 and the highest one-week attendance, with 23,040 guests seeing the show.

The Rochester Fringe Festival announces today that the 11th Fringe will take place Tuesday, September 13 through Saturday, September 24, 2022. Show submissions for the 12-day festival will open Wednesday, March 30 at noon ET via its website at rochesterfringe.com, closing five weeks later on Wednesday, May 4 at noon ET.

By popular demand, Disney's The Lion King will return to Salt Lake City for the first time since its triumphant premiere engagement in March/April of 2017, where the production played a sold-out run at the Eccles Theater.  This exclusive four-week return engagement at the Eccles Theater begins Thursday, September 29, 2022 and plays through Sunday, October 23, 2022. The public on-sale for individual tickets to The Lion King will be announced at a later date.  

Tickets for the long-awaited return engagement of Disney’s The Lion King will go on sale to the public on Monday, February 7 at 10:00 a.m. St. Louis’s most eagerly awaited return will once again leap onto the Fabulous Fox Theatre stage on Wednesday, June 1 for a limited engagement of 3 weeks through Sunday, June 19.

Disney Theatrical Productions has announced that THE LION KING and ALADDIN will resume performances at The Minskoff Theatre and The New Amsterdam Theatre, respectively, tonight, Wednesday, December 29 at 7PM.

Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue, will present its 47th annual Thunderbird American Dancers Pow Wow and Dance Concert from January 14 to 23, 2022.

Members of Broadway in Detroit, featuring the Detroit Youth Choir, performed a song from The Lion King during America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit.

This weekend, the Lion King celebrated its 24th anniversary on Broadway. As part of its celebration, the anniversary performance was dedicated to the memory of the creator of the role of Mufasa in the original 1997 production, Samuel E. Wright, who received a Tony nomination for his performance.

The Lion King will celebrate its 24th anniversary on Broadway tomorrow, Saturday, November 13, 2021. The show opened on November 13, 1997 at the newly-renovated New Amsterdam Theatre and has played 9,387 performances as of today and entertained more than 15,870,000 guests on Broadway alone.

The cast includes Spencer Plachy as 'Scar,' Gerald Ramsey as 'Mufasa,' Gugwana Dlamini as 'Rafiki,' Nick Cordileone as 'Timon,' Jürgen Hooper as 'Zazu,' Ben Lipitz as 'Pumbaa,' Darian Sanders as 'Simba,' Kayla Cyphers as 'Nala,' Keith Bennett as 'Banzai,' Martina Sykes as 'Shenzi' and Robbie Swift as 'Ed.' Jaylen Lyndon Hunter alternates the role of 'Young Simba', along with Charlie Kahler.

Disney Theatrical Productions and Broadway In Detroit announced today that tickets for the long-awaited return engagement of Disney’s The Lion King will go on sale to the public on Friday, October 22, 2021.

The full cast has been announced for the UK and Ireland tour of the landmark musical THE LION KING, including a first look at their new Simba played by Stephenson Ardern-Sodje.

Black Girls Dance, which empowers young women of color to pursue professional dance, presents the world premiere of Mary, a holiday “dansical” choreographed, written, and directed by Founder Erin Barnett.
