Pittsburgh Public Theater's 1776 Will Be Biggest Production in Theater's History, 1/24-2/24

Pittsburgh Public Theater's MADE IN AMERICA season reaches its highpoint with 1776, the biggest production in Public Theater history. This Tony-winning Best Musical features book by Peter Stone and music & lyrics by Sherman Edwards. Directed by Ted Pappas, 1776 runs Jan. 24 - Feb. 24, 2013 at the O'Reilly Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District.

Metropolitan Playhouse Presents 8 New Works and More in Founders Festival, 1/14-27

Metropolitan Playhouse, Obie Award winner for exploring American culture through theater, hosts The Founder's Festival, the theater's eighth annual Living Literature Festival of performances inspired by the lives and works of the individuals who helped to shape America. The Festival is a collection of eight new works by artists and companies from near and far taking their inspiration from the Founding Father's public and private lives. Each new work is presented four times over the festival. (Project descriptions and schedule follow.) Several evenings will be complemented by readings of salient documents.

People's Light & Theatre Gives Back to the Community this Holiday Season

People's Light & Theatre is expanding its support of local charities during the holiday season. Funds raised this year following performances of Aladdin: A Musical Panto and This Wonderful Life will support four organizations: Chester County Food Bank, Home of the Sparrow, the regional chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Relief, and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

F.U.D.G.E. Opens AS BEES IN HONEY DROWN, Jan 25

The F.U.D.G.E. (FRIENDS UNITED DEVELOPING GENUINE ENTERTAINMENT) Theatre Company will present their 12th Anniversary Season's production of "AS BEES IN HONEY DROWN," 'Douglas Carter Beane's Award-winning comedy about deception, fraud, embezzlement, sexual politics, elusive fame, amoral women, sitting-duck men and revenge, which will open on Friday, January 25 at The Factory Theatre (791 Tremont Street, Boston, MA - between Camden Street and Northampton Street) where it will play through Sunday, January 27.

The result is a musical theatre classic that will have audiences cheering for the creation of democracy.

Mitt Romney Chats with Brian Williams on 'Education Nation'

Governor Mitt Romney joined Brian Williams live on stage at NBC News' "Education Nation" Summit this morning to discuss his ideas for the nation's education future and answer questions from Summit attendees, discussing what it will take to prepare all Americans for the high-skill jobs of the 21st century. The interview aired live on MSNBC at 11:00AM/ET. The Summit was held from Sept. 23-25 at The New York Public Library.

'1776' Opens Bellevue Little Theatre's 2012-13 Season, 9/14

Bellevue Little Theatre will open the 2012-13 season with the musical '1776' on Friday Sept. 14. This production will continue on week-ends thru Sept. 30. Showtimes are 8 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings and 2 pm on Sunday afternoons.

DEATH OF A SALESMAN Recoups; Definitely No Extension

After breaking the house record at the Barrymore Theatre six times during its run with a seven-performance-a-week schedule, Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN will recoup its $3.1 million capitalization this week. The critically acclaimed limited engagement opened March 15. Despite the show's success, there will no extension.
