The Celebrity Series of Boston welcomes jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn to kick off its fourth annual Stave Sessions, the unique concert series showcasing the innovative, the experimental, and the collaborative approaches of emerging artists. The concert takes place Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 160 Massachusetts Avenue, at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Tippet Rise Art Center, set on a 10,260-acre working ranch at the foot of Montana's Beartooth Mountains, today announced the programs for its third concert season, comprising more than 25 recitals and chamber music concerts from July 6 through September 8, 2018. Bringing together an international roster of celebrated artists-some who have already made the art center one of their summer homes, others who will be marking their debuts at Tippet Rise, this third season will include extraordinary concentrations of masterworks by Johann Sebastian Bach and of varied and exciting compositions from the 20th and 21st centuries. Other programs will feature immersions into the Romantic repertoire-one of the hallmarks of Tippet Rise-and the world premiere of a new piece by Aaron Jay Kernis, commissioned by Tippet Rise and performed by the Borromeo String Quartet.

The show has book and lyrics by Brian Crawley, music by Jeanine Tesori, direction and choreography by Kari Hayter, and musical direction by Robyn Manion. Violet will preview from February 2 through February 9; regular performances will begin February 10 and continue through March 4 at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center on the Cripe Stage.

James and Jerome make hyper-literary live-music storytelling spectacles for the theater. With MUSEUM: Lecture, co-created with media designer Shawn Duan and co-directed by Tony-nominee Rachel Chavkin and Annie Tippe, they turn their attention to visual art, calligraphy, and illuminated manuscripts to create a love letter to the museum experience one that is at once an art lecture, a personal essay, a piece of theater, and a live electronic music composition, all meditated through with the audience. MUSEUM: Lecture is James and Jerome's answer to Susan Sontag's call for an erotics of art.

Acclaimed Chicago troupe Manual Cinema will make their BAM debut with the genre-defying Mementos Mori, a whimsical take on immortality, running tonight, October 18, through October 21, 2017.

John Heginbotham and Maira Kalman will present their dance theater work The Principles of Uncertainty, tonight, Sep 27, through Sep 30, at BAM Fisher (Fishman Space, 321 Ashland Pl).

Ensemble Connect, comprised of some of the finest young professional classical musicians in the United States, continues its two-year fellowship program this season with concerts at Carnegie Hall and The Juilliard School, as well as residencies and performances at The Pocantico Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund; Skidmore College; and in schools and community venues throughout New York City. Highlights of the Ensemble's 2017-2018 season include the premiere performances of bright and fair, a new work by Gabriel Kahane, commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project, featuring Mr. Kahane as guest vocalist in Weill Recital Hall on February 19. This fall, Ensemble Connect travels to The Pocantico Center in Tarrytown, New York to collaborate with composer Andy Akiho on a new work, also commissioned by Carnegie Hall, to premiere in 2018.

Julian Fleisher,whose New York City playground ranges from Lincoln Center to LES dive bars, sets up shop at Joe's Pub this fall with a series of concerts kicking off Thursday, September 28, in a show titled Pop Music. Joining Fleisher for a rollicking and genre-busting journey through the music he loves is the inimitable Martha Plimpton.

Choreographer John Heginbotham and author/illustrator Maira Kalmandiscuss their newest collaboration featuring imaginative production design and whimsical dance theater inspired by Kalman's written work and visual art. Following the world premiere at Jacob's Pillow and before the New York premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Dance Heginbotham and members of The Knights orchestra will perform highlights set to a score composed, curated, and arranged by the orchestra's artistic director Colin Jacobsen.
