Los Angeles Master Chorale Receives Challenge Grant

The Los Angeles Master Chorale announced today that the Abbott L. Brown Foundation (ALBF) has awarded a challenge grant to support the organization's mission and programs. The ALBF will match up to a total of $100,000 funded contributions to the newly formed Leadership Circle, founded by Abbott L. Brown and Jerrie Paula Ortega-Brown.

Sufjan Stevens to Release Score for Justin Peck's Ballet 'The Decalogue'

Oscar- and Grammy-nominated composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens will release his acclaimed score for Justin Peck's ballet The Decalogue October 18 via his own label, AKR. Performed by the pianist Timo Andres, the recording is the first time the score, premiered during the New York City Ballet's 2017 season, is available to the public.

The Crossing Presents The World Premiere Of Gavin Bryars' A NATIVE HILL

Grammy-winning new-music choir The Crossing presents the world premiere of English composer Gavin Bryars' substantial new evening-length a cappella work, A Native Hill, on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 5pm at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia.

Compagnia De' Colombari Presents MORE OR LESS I AM At Fort Greene Park

Compagnia de' Colombari, an international collective of performing artists founded and directed by Karin Coonrod, presents More Or Less I Am: a music-theater piece drawn entirely from Walt Whitman's revolutionary free verse long poem, 'Song of Myself,'one of the original twelve pieces that comprise his 1855 collection Leaves of Grass. The next performance in this series, spanning multiple venues throughout the five boroughs, will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2019, 7:30 pm at Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn.  

THE 24 PLAYS Celebrates 24 Years When THE 24 HOUR MUSICALS Returns on June 17

In 1995, a group of writers, directors and actors gathered on Manhattan's Lower East Side for what was supposed to be a one-time only event: write, direct, produce and perform new plays within the span of 24 hours. Twenty-four years later, The 24 Hour Plays and The 24 Hour Musicals are regularly performed around the world, touching everyone from celebrities to student artists and raising millions of dollars for charities. Today, The 24 Hour Plays announced that they'll mark their anniversary with an intimate production of The 24 Hour Musicals on Monday, June 17th at 8 PM on the Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Center.  

Compagnia De' Colombari Presents MORE OR LESS I AM In Celebration Of Walt Whitman's 200th Birthday

Compagnia de' Colombari, an international collective of performing artists founded and directed by Karin Coonrod,celebrates the bicentennial of the birth of America's most influential poet, Walt Whitman, with a revival of their acclaimed production More Or Less I Am. Meany Center For The Performing Arts Announces The 2019/20 Season

The University of Washington's Meany Center for the Performing Arts, under the leadership of Executive and Artistic Director Michelle Witt, announces its 2019/20 Season with a lineup of 23 adventurous and visionary artists from around the globe. One of the nation's leading university presenters, Meany Center brings artists of exceptional artistry and diverse perspectives to Seattle, providing extraordinary performances and unique learning experiences to both community and campus. The 2019/20 Season explores the theme of empathy in the arts and celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, an artist whose life and work resonates with the season's theme. The new season will also feature work by two Creative Research Fellows participating in the UW's Creative Fellowships Initiative, choreographer Brian Brooks and performance artist Daniel Alexander Jones.

The Knights Perform at Carnegie Hall on April 3

Grammy Award-nominated orchestral collective The Knights presents a wide-ranging program at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m., featuring music from the Baroque era through today, and from East to West. The concert features the US premiere of Canons and Overtones by Donnacha Dennehy, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project. The piece was written to mark the 20th anniversary of Dublin's Crash Ensemble and plays with layered melodies to create overtones, blurring the distinction between timbre and harmony.

Manual Cinema's MEMENTOS MORI Announced At The Broad Stage

The Broad Stage presents Manual Cinema's Mementos Mori -  a dynamic, beguiling meditation on death and dying. A cast of six puppeteers use hundreds of paper puppets, seven overhead projectors, two cameras and three screens to create a live "movie" in front of the audience.
