Four-time Tony® Award winning playwright Terrence McNally celebrates two milestones on The Great White Way-his 20thBroadway production and the 50th Anniversary of his Broadway debut-with the opening night of his newest play, Mothers and Sons, at the Golden Theatre(252 West 45th Street) on Monday, March 24, 2014. Over the course of five decades, Mr. McNally has chronicled the human experience with a wide range of works including Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, The Full Monty, Ragtime, Master Class, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Kiss of the Spider Woman,The Rink, The Ritz, and Bad Habits. A noted LGBT advocate, Mr. McNally is also credited with his unprecedented tracking of the gay rights movement-in all of its stages-as depicted in his plays, culminating in Mothers and Sons, which features the first legally-married gay couple to appear on a Broadway stage.

Weller stars in MOTHERS AND SONS, Terrence McNally's latest drama, about the lives that continued 20 years after a death from AIDS.

Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Frederick Weller and Tony® Award nominee Bobby Steggert will join Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Tyne Daly in the upcoming Broadway production of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, it was announced today. Weller will portray Cal Porter opposite Daly's Katharine Gerard. Steggert, currently seen on Broadway in Big Fish, reprises the role of Will Ogden which he created in an earlier production of the play at Bucks County Playhouse. Mothers and Sons marks Mr. McNally's 20th Broadway show, and will be directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall). It will play Broadway's John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Preview performances have been set to begin Sunday, February 23, 2014, and the opening night has been announced for Monday, March 24, 2014. Mothers and Sons is produced on Broadway by Tom Kirdahy, Roy Furman, Paula Wagner & Debbie Bisno, and Barbara Freitag & Loraine Alterman Boyle. The Hollywood Reporter writes that DIRECTV has cast stage and TV star Jenna Fischer (The Office, Reasons To Be Happy), Broadway's Judith Light (The Assembled Parties) and Richard Kind (The Big Knife), as well as Frederick Weller (Plain Sight) and Louisa Krause (Young Adult) in the first of playwright and screenwriter Neil LaBute's 10X10 short film series.
