Theatrical Greats Laud Kennedy Center Honorees in Variety

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts selected the individuals who will receive the Kennedy Center Honors of 2008. Recipients to be honored at the 31st annual national celebration of the arts are: actor Morgan Freeman, singer George Jones, actress and singer Barbra Streisand, choreographer Twyla Tharp, and musicians Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey of The Who. They were given personal kudos by some of their talented peers in Variety.

BERNSTEIN: THE BEST OF ALL POSSIBLE WORLDS 2-CD Set Released

In cooperation with Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic in conjunction with the 90th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein's birth, Deutsche Grammophon has released BERNSTEIN: THE BEST OF ALL POSSIBLE WORLDS, a new double CD featuring Bernstein as both conductor and performer.

New York Festival of Song Presents 'Fugitives' 11/18

New York Festival of Song, whose recent 'A Bernstein/Bolcom Celebration' was performed with 'Comic and dramatic flair,'(The New York Times) presents Fugitives, songs by composers who fled Hitler's Europe, on November 18 and 20 at the newly restored Merkin Concert Hall in New York. The program will feature music from Broadway, the concert stage and Berlin cabaret by Kurt Weill, Erich Korngold, Alexander Zemlinsky and many others.

Barbara Cook to Inaugurate Eli and Edythe Broad Stage with Performance

After 10 years of consulting with internationally lauded performing artists and administrators on their vision of a 'dream venue,' The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage opens with two sold-out concerts. Broadway Legend Barbara Cook inaugurates the performing arts center in a program featuring songs composed by Stephen Sondheim, Rogers and Hammerstein, Rogers and Hart, and Cole Porter.

Hall and Lutvak Perform at Yale on July 31st

On THURSDAY, JULY 31st CAROL HALL and STEVEN LUTVAK, two members of the award-winning faculty at the Cabaret Conference at Yale University, will perform in concert at Yale University's NEW THEATRE.

New York Festival Of Song (NYFOS, www.nyfos.org), co-founded and directed by pianists Steven Blier and Michael Barrett, who 'reinvented the song recital during the 1990's with daring and dramatic programming' (The New Yorker), announces its 21st season (2008-2009).

Tyne Daly Joins Cast of 'Here To Stay' Gala, 5/21

Emmy and Tony-winner Tyne Daly joins the cast of 'Here To Stay,' a Gala evening featuring performances by Susan Graham, Judy Kaye, Anna Christy, John Musto, Bruce Adler and Vince Giordano, in celebration of New York Festival of Song's (NYFOS) 20th Anniversary season, on Wednesday, May 21. Ms. Daly has graciously stepped in to replace the previously announced Frederica von Stade, who is not able to perform due to family matters. The concert takes places at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall at 7:00pm, and is followed by a dinner and additional musical surprises at the Rainbow Room at 9:00pm.

New York Festival Of Song Announced Gala Lineup

New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) will present 'Here To Stay,' a Gala evening celebrating its 20th Anniversary season, featuring performances by Frederica von Stade, Susan Graham, Judy Kaye, Anna Christy, Darius de Haas, Karen Holvik, Bruce Adler, and other artists of NYFOS's past, present and future on Wednesday, May 21 Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. Proceeds from the Gala will support NYFOS programs, in New York as well as national tours, recordings and commissions, and education programs.

Two New Operas Premiere at NYFOS March 11 & 13

New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) continues its 20th Anniversary season by presenting Bastianello and Lucrezia, two newly commissioned comic operas by composers John Musto and William Bolcom with libretti by Mark Campbell. The concerts will take place on Tuesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 13 at 8PM, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, West 57th Street and 7th Avenue.

At 8 pm on Wednesday, May 9th and Thursday, May 10th, the New York Festival of Song will perform We Open in Paris. Paris is the backdrop for four musical theatre works in vest-pocket NYFOS productions, including Jacques Offenbach's La Vie Parisienne and Cole Porter's Fifty Million Frenchmen.

Blier, Kaye, Graae, Aylmer and Martin Head January 31 Fats and Fields Concert

The New York Festival of Song, with Artistic Director Steven Blier and Associate Artistic Director Michael Barrett, continues its 18th season on Tuesday January 31st with FATS AND FIELDS, a tribute to the song legacies of brilliant lyricist Dorothy Fields and prodigious piano virtuoso/singer/songwriter Fats Waller.

New York Festival of Song to feature Darius de Haas

The New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) will continue its season with a program titled At Harlem's Height on Wednesday, February 23 at 8:00pm as part of Lincoln Center's American Songbook in the Rose Theatre at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The featured soloists will be soprano Dana Hanchard, tenor Darius de Haas, and baritone James Martin, with Steven Blier at the piano.
