The Harris Theater in Millennium Park Presents The Winter/Spring 2010 Season

New York Festival of Song (NYFOS, www.nyfos.org), who 'redefined the song recital with daring and dramatic programming' (The New Yorker), presents its fifth annual program with the Department of Vocal Arts at The Juilliard School on Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 8 PM, Killer B's-American Song From Amy Beach to the Beach Boys.

Brooks, Brubeck, Bumbry, De Niro And Springsteen Set For 2009 Kennedy Center Honors 12/6

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced the selection of the individuals who will receive the Kennedy Center Honors of 2009. Recipients to be honored at the 32nd annual national celebration of the arts are: writer, composer, actor, director, and producer Mel Brooks; pianist and composer Dave Brubeck; opera singer Grace Bumbry; actor, director, and producer Robert De Niro; and singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen.

A slew of Broadway talent joined in the 32nd annual Kennedy Center Honors on December 6th to honor acclaimed Broadway producer, Mel Brooks. The group included Gary Beach, Matthew Broderick, Richard Kind, Jane Krakowski, Matthew Morrison, Frank Langella and Martin Short. Brooks was honored as a winner of the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors for his contributions to both stage and screen.

Chicago Opera Theatre Announces Plans for National Opera Week 11/13-22

National Opera Week takes place November 13-22, 2009 and celebrates the vitality of opera in America as a contemporary cultural expression. Chicago Opera Theater (COT), partnering with the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs, are proud to participate in this exciting, week-long celebration with 'Pop-up Opera' performances around Chicago, a young professionals' night at Rock Bottom Brewery, and a free double bill of two one-act operas at Preston Bradley Hall in the Chicago Cultural Center.

Kaufman Center and New York Festival Of Song (NYFOS, www.nyfos.org), will premiere Great American Songwriting Teams, an evening of famous and rarely-heard songs honoring the genius of America's classic collaborators, on Tuesday and Thursday November 17 and 19 at 8 PM at Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center. Merkin Concert Hall is at 129 West 67th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues), New York, NY 10023.

Opera Underground Hosts BEERS AND BARITIONES 11/18

On Wednesday, November 18th Chicago Opera Theater's (COT) young professional club Opera Underground will host 'Beers and Baritones' at Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Chicago. This cocktail hour is a perfect opportunity for Chicago area young professionals to meet up after work to drink, eat, and hear a little music.

COT's High C's On The High Seas Entertains Over 150 Guests

On Thursday, September 24th, 2009, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) hosted Chicago's first-ever opera cruise: 'High C's on the High Seas.' Just over 150 guests set sail on Kanan Cruises at Navy Pier and enjoyed an evening of song, mingling and dancing.
