The acclaimed Cassatt String Quartet will join co-founder and artistic director of Boston GuitarFest, American classical guitarist Elliot Fisk at a live gala concert of the 17th Boston GuitarFest.

Washington Performing Arts announces its 2022/23 Season with the theme of The World in Our City, running from October of 2022 through June of 2023 and featuring artists from 19 nations.

BIRDLAND THEATER will present acclaimed jazz vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli in a new monthlong Tuesday residency starting on May 31 at 5:30 PM. After Stravelli opens the series, each month the club will showcase a new artist. Stravelli – who has been compared to the legendary Ella Fitzgerald by the New York Times, hailing her “emotional intelligence,  easy-going confidence and impeccable taste” – will be joined by pianist Michael Kanan  and bassist Pat O’Leary. There is a $20 music charge. Revered pianist/composer Fred Hersch reemerged from the pandemic with one of his most ambitious and acclaimed projects to date: Breath By Breath, his first album ever pairing jazz rhythm section with string quartet. The album found Hersch's trio featuring bassist Drew Gress and drummer Jochen Rueckert joined by the Crosby Street String Quartet, a new ensemble formed especially for the recording. DownBeat called the album, 'An amazingly satisfying listening experience,' while WBGO hailed it simply as, “Exquisite.”

Returning to the venue after a successful show earlier this year, Tirado will again present a passionate and dynamic evening of traditional Flamenco music and dance through a contemporary lens, melding improvisation, emotion, “duende,” singing, and guitar playing. 

The highly regarded Cassatt String Quartet will perform in an in-person and online concert, Reaching for the Heavens: The Music of Composer Gerald Cohen, in the new auditorium at the Jewish Theological Seminary (3080 Broadway, New York, NY 10027), at 7:30 pm EDT on Tuesday evening, May 10, 2022.
