Greenfield Prize Commissioned BATHING IN MOONLIGHT Announces its Cast

The Hermitage Artist Retreat is pleased to announce that its coveted Greenfield Prize Commission, play BATHING IN MOONLIGHT by Nilo Cruz, is set to premiere in Princeton, NJ this fall at McCarter Theatre Center's Roger S. Berlind Theatre. The 2014 Greenfield Prize in drama is a $30,000 commission in exchange for a new work to be presented within two years.

By Wayman Wong Jonathan Groff and his cast ran the rainbow of emotions at the world premiere of their 'Looking' movie Sunday night (June 26) at the historic Castro Theatre in San Francisco. Their picture, which will air July 23 on HBO, capped the 40th anniversary of the acclaimed Frameline LGBT film festival on Pride Weekend. And Groff said he could not have been prouder than to have 1,400 fans cheer the sold-out, crowd-pleasing finale to his two-year-old cable series about gay friends seeking sex and love.

Crowded Outlet Launches

 Crowded Outlet, a new not-for-profit development and producing organization committed to harnessing the creative powers of a variety of artistic voices and theatrical visions, launches in January 2016 with the first event in a planned monthly developmental series called Surge, offering theatre artists a chance to test their new ideas and dawning projects. A full production is also on the horizon, for Spring 2016.

The 52nd Street Project makes a difference in the lives of Hell's Kitchen (Clinton) kids by pairing them with theater professionals who mentor them through the creation of original theater. For its One-on-One series, the its cornerstone acting program, the Project takes a group of ten kids out of town to a country retreat for a week in the summer. Each child is assigned a playwright who is charged to write a musical specifically for that child. The shows are rehearsed over the course of the week and performed informally for the community in the retreat setting. Upon returning to Manhattan, the plays are performed at the Project's Five Angels Theater (789 Tenth Avenue, 2nd floor, NYC), supported by professional designers and crews who volunteer their services.

Point Foundation (Point) just honored actor Jonathan Groff, with the Point HORIZON Award. The Award recognizes a young trailblazer who has taken a leadership role as an advocate of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community. Groff, currently starring in HBO's critically acclaimed series 'Looking' and appearing in the Public Theater's hit musical 'Hamilton,' was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in 'Spring Awakening.' Breaking News: HBO Cancels LOOKING Led by Jonathan Groff; Movie Next!

BroadwayWorld.com has learned this morning that HBO's LOOKING has sadly been cancelled. For the past few days, there have been endless articles after Sunday night's season finale of the show as to whether or not HBO would pick up the show for a third season. The show's amazingly talented cast, led by Broadway's Jonathan Groff (currently in HAMILTON at the Public Theater) has been praised for their frank storytelling. The show has been compared to a 21st century version of Armistead Maupin's TALES OF THE CITY.
