Rackham Choir Presents An Evening Of Choral And Organ Works By French Composers

Rackham Choir, now in its 70th year of singing for Detroit, will present 'Fantaisie Francaise' at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak. Under the direction of Suzanne Mallare Acton, the choir will be joined by percussionist David Taylor and will feature organist Joseph Jackson.

Four New Young Artists To Join COC Ensemble Studio For 2019/2020

The Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio, Canada's premier training program for young opera professionals, welcomes four new artists for the 2019/2020 season: tenor Matthew Cairns, bass-baritone Vartan Gabrielian, mezzo-soprano Jamie Groote, and Alex Soloway as a pianist and intern coach. The four will join the Ensemble Studio in August 2019 and become part of a program that has launched the careers of over 230 Canadian opera professionals.

The concert will be held at St. Ambrose Church, 15020 Hampton in Grosse Pointe Park. This annual WSU concert, celebrating Detroit's rich cultural heritage, is free and open to the public. The department is part of Wayne State's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts.

Jérémie Rhorer to Leads New Production Of LA TRAVIATA

Conductor Jeremie Rhorer, founder of Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, makes his debut London Philharmonic Orchestra debut at Royal Festival Hall on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Rhorer will conduct two monumental choral works: Carl Orff's canonic Carmina Burana and Francis Poulenc's rarely-heard Stabat Mater. Rhorer will lead the London Philharmonic Orchestra and London Philharmonic Choir as well as a trio of accomplished vocalists: soprano Louise Adler, tenor Toby Spencer, and baritone Simon Keenlyside.

Orchestra of St. Luke's to Perform Concert on New Miller-Scott Organ at Saint Thomas Church

 Orchestra of St. Luke's joins the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys for At a Solemn Musick, an October 18 program led by Daniel Hyde with soloists Benjamin Sheen, organ, Sara Cutler, harp and Hyesang Park, soprano in which two classics of the organ concerto repertoire,Poulenc's Concerto en Sol mineur and Barber's Toccata Festiva, will showcase Saint Thomas Church's new Irene D. and William R. Miller Chancel Organ in memory of John Scott.
